30: Off With His.....

"This couldn't have been any accident! How did she provoke you!?" Korran hesitated. Vesper picked him up by his neck and smashed him into a wall, playing her part, tears welling in her eyes. "Explain yourself, you're our so-called king, explain yourself!!!!" Korran struggled to breathe, and he explained. As they helped Elara up, Elara pointed a gun at him. She puckered her lips, smirked and whispered in Korran's ear, "If you wield the sword forbid you to deserve, then I can play my convincing innocent part and be behind the trigger and put the blame upon you? And trust me, you have no say, because who'll believe you?"  Elara snapped her fingers, and the guards took Korran away. Elara grabbed Thane. "Hey, if he's not a king anymore do you think, you can be my king?" Thane's breath caught at Elara's boldness, definitely wanting to accept. "Are you serious?"
    "Extremely."
Vesper nudged Thane. Hey, you'd be a great king, and you guys are soulmates." He hesitated. "This changes things. And you think they'll accept me? A commoner as a king?" Elara embraced Thane. "Yes, you're not a commoner to me. I want you as my king, and my mind is impossible to change. I love you, Thane, and I won't force you." There was a trial, well it wasn't a trial, but we'll call it that. "We are disappointed in you, Lord Korran. To assault your own bride? She has done nothing to us but made it better here, and you gotta go do this," says Duke Ernest. "And, it's only been months since the wedding. Queen Elara is the best queen we've had, too innocent for us. She even has Celeste and Evander caring for her, too, that's a notable respect she's left on us. And, i'm sure we all agree that was attempted murder.  So....Queen Elara, step forward." Elara stepped forward. "We give you the decision of his punishment—"

"I don't wish to give him a punishment. I want to ask for mercy on his behalf," Elara lied, "but, i'll give an order instead, Guards! Off with his head!!!!" Gasps came from all over the humongous courtroom. As long as Vesper has known Elara, she hasn't ever wished to do this, but Vesper was proud. She smirked and said to herself, "I knew you had it in you."                                                          "No! Don't do it, Elara—" 

"She has spoken! So, guards!" commanded Celeste, now known as Duchess, given the honor by Elara. They cut off his head. "And one last announcement. I wish Commoner Thane as my king, and Duchess Celeste and Duchess Vesper as my servants. And Duke Evander can be my helper too." Elaa kissed Thane, and that was it. And remember, we all wear masks, but the one that hides our true selves is often the darkest of them all.
