The council chamber was a grand room lined with dark wood and adorned with tapestries depicting the kingdom's storied past. As Elara entered, she felt a chill in the air, the weight of anticipation heavy upon her shoulders. The long table at the center was filled with lords and ladies, their expressions a mix of skepticism and curiosity. Korran stood at the head, exuding a facade of authority, but Elara sensed the undercurrents of doubt swirling around him.

"Thank you all for coming," Korran began, his voice steady but strained. "We must address the unrest among the commoners. Their grievances cannot be ignored any longer."

Elara took her seat, her heart racing. She had worked hard to get to this point, and now it was time to ensure the council didn't devolve into mere lip service. As Korran laid out the agenda, she watched the reactions of the nobles, noting their body language, the subtle exchanges of glances. She knew that behind their polite smiles lay ulterior motives. One of the older lords, Lord Evander, leaned forward, his voice gravelly. "Your Grace, with all due respect, a council of commoners? It's a dangerous precedent. They lack the knowledge and experience required to contribute meaningfully to our governance." Elara felt a surge of indignation. "With respect, Lord Evander, the commoners are the backbone of our kingdom. They understand the struggles we face daily. Ignoring them will only fuel further discontent."                                                                                       Murmurs of agreement rippled through the room, and Korran glanced at Elara, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. She pressed on, fueled by a mix of passion and strategy. "We need to establish a genuine dialogue. A council of commoners could serve as an advisory board, helping to bridge the gap between the nobility and the people."

"Advisory?" Lord Evander scoffed. "And what's to stop them from demanding more than we are willing to give?"

"Fear of change is not a reason to deny them a voice," Elara shot back, her tone firm. "If we empower them now, we can cultivate loyalty and prevent future uprisings." Korran nodded, clearly grappling with the implications of her words. The tension in the room grew thick, and Elara could sense the council's collective apprehension. She had to find a way to reassure them. "Perhaps we can start small," she suggested, her voice calming. "Establish a trial council. If it fails, we can reassess. But if it succeeds, we could create a model for future governance." The lords exchanged glances, weighing her proposal. Korran finally spoke, "A trial council it is, then. We will proceed with caution." Relief washed over Elara, knowing she had secured a significant victory. But she also recognized the peril of her position—she was now more deeply entwined in the politics of the court than ever before.
