FUNNEHS POV ♤
(remade version)
I squinted through the cracked window, my breath fogging up the glass. The forest outside was still, almost unnaturally so, but something caught my eye—movement.

At first, I thought it was the thing, the monster lurking in the shadows. My heart raced, and I instinctively backed away, grabbing Alec’s arm. “Someone’s out there,” I whispered, barely audible.

Alec stiffened beside me, following my gaze. Then, through the dark trees, figures appeared. They were running—fast, panicked.

“Wait... that's not the monster,” I said, squinting to get a better look. As they came closer, I recognized them. Senpai, Felicia, Britteny, and Valerie—all sprinting toward the cabin, their faces pale with fear.

“It’s them!” I shouted, rushing to the door. Without thinking, I threw it open, the cold night air rushing inside.

Felicia was the first to reach us, panting and clutching her side, eyes wide with terror. “Let us in, quick!”

Valerie followed close behind, dragging Britteny, who looked like she could barely keep up. “We’ve been running for miles. That thing—it almost caught us!” Valerie said between gasps.

I stepped aside, letting them pile into the cabin. Britteny was the last to enter, slamming the door shut and pushing her back against it, as if trying to keep the monster out by force alone.

Kyran, who had been standing near the doorway, scanned the group with growing concern. His face paled, and he turned to us, his voice shaky. “Where’s Evan?”

The room fell silent. Felicia, who had been breathing heavily, straightened up, her eyes darting around. “He was with us... I thought he was right behind me.”

Valerie’s face drained of color as she stepped forward. “No, no. He was there! He was right behind me when we started running.”

Kyran shook his head, backing toward the window, looking out into the dark woods. “He’s not here.”

Alec’s eyes met mine, and an unsettling feeling crept over me. The cabin that once felt like a small haven now seemed even smaller—trapped, with the unknown lurking just outside.

Evan was gone.
