Got it! Here's a simplified continuation with a more casual tone, as if writt
Inside the clinic, the bright lights hurt my eyes after being out in the fog for so long. It was way too clean and normal in here compared to what we'd just been through. People looked at us like we were aliens or something. Guess we did look pretty freaky.A nurse hurried over, staring at us like we were the last thing she expected to see. "What happened to you guys?" she asked, her voice shaky.
Alec nodded toward Senpai, who was basically passed out. "Please, help him. He's... he's not doing so great."
The nurse waved over some other staff, and they rushed up with a stretcher. They carefully put Senpai on it, and my heart tightened. He looked so weak, like he could fade away any second. They started taking him to the back, and Alec moved like he was gonna follow.
"You can't come with him," the nurse said, stopping him. "He's going straight to intensive care. You all need to get checked out too."
Alec hesitated, but he nodded. We were all exhausted, but we didn't have much of a choice.
The nurse motioned for us to sit down, but no one moved. We were too on edge, too drained. I could still feel the weight of my axe in my hands, even though I wasn't holding it anymore. Every muscle in my body was tense, like I was waiting for something to jump out at us again.
Felicia sighed dramatically, crossing her arms. "So, what now? We just hang around and wait for them to patch us up?"
"Seems like it," I mumbled, glancing at the others. Gold had finally collapsed into one of the waiting room chairs, her eyes half-closed. Kyran sat next to her, cradling his injured arm, but he still managed a weak smile when she leaned her head on his shoulder.
Aly and Evelyn were standing by the window, looking out at the fog-covered streets. The clinic was weirdly quiet for a city, but then again, maybe it wasn't that kind of place. It felt too small, too... desolate.
"I'm just glad we made it here," Aly said, breaking the silence. "Even if people are staring at us like we're zombies."
I nodded, wiping some of the dried blood from my cheek. "We'll be fine. We just need to get through this."
Felicia leaned back in her chair and muttered, "Yeah, sure. If we don't freak everyone out first. What's the plan after this, though? Are we just gonna sit here forever?"
I hadn't thought that far. Honestly, I wasn't sure what came next. All I could think about was surviving, getting through today, and hoping tomorrow would be better.
"I don't know," I admitted quietly. "But we'll figure it out. We always do."
For now, all we could do was wait.
