Valerie's voice grew fainter and fainter, like she was speaking from miles away. My head was heavy, my thoughts clouded. I tried to focus on her words, but everything around me started to blur. The room spun, and the exhaustion I had been fighting off for so long finally caught up to me.

I blinked, trying to stay awake, but my vision darkened at the edges. Valerie's face was the last thing I saw before everything went black.

I was falling. Falling through nothing. No sounds, no sights—just endless darkness swallowing me whole. I didn’t know how long I was there, sinking deeper into the emptiness.

I wasn’t in the hospital. I wasn’t with Valerie, Alec, Gold or anyone.

None of it was real.

Then I woke up.
