Somewhere in Oakland
Sunday June 3rd, 2024

Syara slowly regained consciousness on a clothed chest with a hand lazily rubbing up and down her back, and humming under their breath.

She already knew it was Elijah, and she physically couldn't help but snuggle deeper into him. She knew she had acted a little out of pocket the day before, but this was nothing out of the ordinary for Syara. It had been happening since before her mom had passed away.

She'd just get so angry, and she couldn't stop herself from getting violent. She tried to solve the problem by just taking it out on herself, but last night, she couldn't help herself. She felt disrespected and she wasn't in control.

Hindsight, hitting that woman with a bottle may not have been the best reaction to her shoving her, but in the moment, Syara really didn't think about it. She just acted.

Syara felt her eyes starting to burn as she thought about it. She felt a wave of nausea as she recounted her actions from the night before.

This shit was embarrassing. She was supposed to be grown. She was supposed to be over this. She couldn't always allow herself to act so recklessly.

She'd thought she'd been getting better since she started track in her sophomore year. It helped to take away some of her frustration with what was going on, but she was still doing the same things she knew she wasn't supposed to do.

This wasn't normal. She wasn't being normal and doing normal people things. She just wanted to be able to be angry and not send someone or herself to the hospital.

She was seeing parallels to the situation in 9th grade that got her kicked out of her home school, causing her to be sent to the home school of Camarro's house at the time.

She was in a school full of rival gang members, there were in-school prostitutes, no one did their work, and when they did, it was word searches or kiddie worksheets that the teacher assigned.

They had her in the special ed class because she let her anger get the best of her, and she threw her computer at her teacher's head. She was still doing work on the same level as everyone else in the school, she was just labeled SpEd. And once she switched to a better school, she was in advanced classes.

She didn't see a problem with it because she knew she wasn't slow. The school just didn't know how to handle her. And even if she was slow, the kids in the class were cool. And they got extra breaks. And snacks.

But, the event that got her kicked out was of her own doing.

A girl she had previously fought for bumping into her in the hallway was making fun of her for being in the SpEd class. And she was making fun of the other students in there too, who Syara was cool with. She didn't mind at all that they were Special because who the fuck cares.

But, the girl just kept picking and being disrespectful, so Syara found her at second lunch, and before she could think about it she launched a rock at her head and started beating her up.

She beat the shit out of that girl, and their supervisors just watched until they felt like it was enough. It took 2 supervisors, 3 teachers, and two students to pull Syara off of the poor girl, and even after that, she destroyed the room they locked her in.

She felt so embarrassed on the inside, but on the outside, she was still angry. She just didn't know how to handle it, so she destroyed the room and fractured her own wrist in three places trying to destroy more.

Even Camarro and Kisses couldn't calm her down, and they had no one to call, so she was just throwing things around until she exhausted herself and passed out, curled up in a ball on the floor amongst the wreckage.
