Somewhere in Oakland

"Mami?" Elijah's deep voice blared over Syara's car speakers. He had called her immediately after hopping into his car, and was just then pulling off with his phone tucked between his ear and his shoulder as he drove.

"Yes, my love?" Syara asked. She was experimenting with nicknames as of late. She wanted him to know that she liked him.

Elijah was quiet on the other end of the line for a second, causing Syara to rethink her decision to try out nicknames. Her eyes widened and her hand had a mind of its own, immediately hanging up the phone before he could say anything else.

"Shit." Syara breathed out, biting her lip. She was starting to get antsy in the five seconds it took for him to call her back.

She declined the first call, but he immediately called a second time. Syara took a deep breath, in through her nose and out through her mouth before answering the phone.

She was going for normal. She needed to sound like that didn't hurt her pride as much as it did.

"Hello, Elijah."

That...that..nah, that wasn't normal. She sounded like a Mikaelson brother off of that show that Kisses made her watch.

Elijah had a very obvious, goofy smile in his voice. "Hola, mi amor."

"How quick you could get ready, mami?"

Syara looked to the clock on her dashboard. 7:36.

"Maybe, an hour?" She spoke uncertainly. "Why, 'Lijah?"

Elijah didn't speak for a moment, as though thinking hard about something. "Be ready by 8:45, mi reina."

The phone was hung up immediately after his last word, leaving Syara stunned, and confused in her seat.

Which led to her most pertinent dilemma. She stood half-naked in her mirror, trying desperately to decide on what to wear. She could only assume it was formal by the time they were set to leave. But, she could also just be overthinking it.

There was a very high chance that he was taking her to a late night food truck and she would look incredibly out of place in an ankle length square neck, solid floral black Cider dress that hugged every curve she had so tightly that she likely couldn't even chance a thong underneath it. Barely even her waistbeads.

But then again, it was Elijah. Who was she kidding? That was incredibly likely for anyone who wasn't Elijah. She'd probably never have to worry about a situation like that with him.

She went with the dress she had as her first choice. It was definitely a beautiful dress, and Syara didn't get many chances to wear dresses. She didn't know how she felt, looking at herself in her body length mirror, but an awkward smile was on her face.

Next, was picking her shoes that she matched with the red undertone in her floral dress. They were deep Scarlett red patent Jildie slingback Mary Jane heels.

She loved Mary Jane's.

She paired with both her shoes and dress, a deep Scarlett Coach Outlet Andrea carry all bag.

Syara already had her staple jewelry around her neck, wrists, hands, and ankles, but she still wanted to stack a bit more. She settled for her name pendant chain, and her smaller Rolex chain with an iced heart pendant as well as her large gold twist hoop earrings.

Syara had quite a few rings, but she had yet to go back to Durant to get herself another gold nugget pinky ring after she lost her last one when she took it off to fight.
