Meetings were tedious, suffocating even. Was it all the higher ups really did? Meet, talk, party and drink.

He’d rather go after his wife than sit through fucking two hours of briefing.
Josh was rapping lightly on the conference table, his skin prickly and his eyes darted from side to side, his mind was a million miles away from whatever Morgan was saying. Something about running a campaign. He scrubbed his face with his palm.

No matter how he wanted to actively participate in the meeting , his mind, body and soul only wanted Brie.

He was relieved that she would attend the cocktail as his wife but what was unnerving was the therapist.

His fingers came to a swift halt just thinking back to the meeting with the PHD lady.

Who the hell did she think was to put them in a pickle,Dr. House? Annoyance scorched his throat and he swiped his glass for a quick swig and pushed up his reading glasses.

His tie was acting up again but he was in a meeting and he couldn’t yank it off.

Was Brie alright?

He saw the hurt in her eyes, all he wanted was to call her and know she was fine.

She wasn’t going to return to the grove at least he guessed that much but where was she going to spend the night? Was she going to come home.

He was processing these questions in his mind while the conversation going on during the meeting dulled out and his thoughts louder.

“Mr. Anderson?” Morgan the marketing strategist piped.

Josh’s focus snapped back to the meeting, eyes wide with surprise to Morgan who was standing up front making an attempt to present. Pass information or prove a point

Morgan shifted his weight to another foot, gave a glance to the screen with a wide grin, his awkwardness seeped through his skin.

“what do you think of it?”

Josh leaned in, his elbows rested on the table, his eyes skated over the curious pairs of eyes waiting for his response.

He chuckled nervously and shifted in his seat.

The awkwardness was uncomfortable.
What did they want from him? He barely heard anything, what could he possibly think of something he never even heard? What was he even supposed to think of?

He knew it would be incredibly rude to admit his absent mindedness and with Morgan, he just couldn’t act clueless. Morgan was a hard-worker, a two time employee of the year.

He started off as an intern under Josh’s department and in less than a year,  a diligent and good person. He didn’t deserve that.

“I think I’ll go over it personally.” he picked up his pen and rolled it between his fingers, his idle hand mindlessly flipped through the agenda briefly. He didn’t want to be here, he needed to breathe, needed Brie.

“send it over to my office.” he added and stood up, he swiped his suit jacket from behind his chair, fixed a polite smile.

“I have somewhere urgent to be.” he said and dashed out of the room paying no heed to the disapproving glare of the board members.

Once outside the building, he pulled out his phone and called his assistant.

“yes. Justin. No I'm not in. I left. I need to see my wife.” a smile spread on his lips merely speaking of her.

Brielle was his wife. “take care of things till I get back.” he ordered and ended the call.

Knowing how Justin nagged at him when he acted on impulse, he left no space for it.
