My heels clacked on the wooden floor in one of the Port Mafia's main buildings. Mr. Hirotsu was currently escorting me to the Boss's office. He would be the one to have the final say to whether I can join his organization or not.

My nerves were eating me up. Every step led me closer to my fate.

"You shouldn't wear your emotions on your sleeve, (Y/n)." Mr. Hirotsu attempted to cheer me up. When I met him yesterday, he tried to talk me out of my decision, but I refused. We did talk for a little and I could tell that he was a very nice man (aside from the murdering part). "Good luck, I'll be waiting here."

I didn't even realize that we already reached the heavily guarded door that shielded the boss.

"Thank you, Mr. Hirotsu."

If I'm being honest with myself, I did have an ulterior motive when I agreed to take this job. The girl with the butterflies. I can find her. The Mafia has underground resources that the government doesn't have. Once I make my way up the ranks, I can thank the mystery girl for saving me and be her friend!

The guards stepped aside, allowing me into the room.

Inside were two people. One was a young girl, maybe ten or so. She had long, wavy blonde hair and wore a dark red dress. The man in front of her had short, black hair, which was pulled back into a ponytail. He wore an elegant suit, leading me to believe that he was the man in charge. Just being around him makes me feel disgusting.

"Come on Elise, I got this pretty pink bow for you." The black-haired man whined to a young blonde girl.

"Ew, that color is ugly." She placed her hands on her hips, looking away. "You need to relearn the color wheel if you think that's cute, Rintaro!"

"I'm sorry to intrude, but I was hoping that I could meet with the boss." I bowed to the two in front of me.

"Wow!" The blonde-haired girl ran up to me, grabbing my arm. "Your hair is very pretty."

"Thank you." I grinned at the child before turning back to the man. "I would like to join the Port Mafia."

"And what makes you think you're qualified?" The man questioned. "You don't look older than twelve to me."

"At least she has a sense of style," the girl giggled.

"Why do you have to be like this, Elise?" The man pouted.

"My name is (Y/n) (L/n) and I'm actually fifteen, but I'm very skilled for my age," I countered. "Anything, from swords to guns I can properly fight with, though I am very skilled at martial arts too. I've fought grown men on the street before and defeated them all whether they were armed or not."

"Huh, that does sound promising." The black-haired man looked a bit surprised. "Very well then, welcome to the Port Mafia, (L/n). I look forward to what you can bring to the table."

"Thank you, sir." That was easier than I thought. I didn't think he'd actually take my word for it, not that I couldn't back it up.

The Boss called Hirotsu into the room, to explain to him that I was being assigned to his squad, The Black Lizard. Apparently, they're a group of merciless killers, always ready to take out whoever whenever. I was surprised to hear that they were only made up of three commanders: Ryoto Hirotsu, Gin, and Michizou Tachihara.

"We don't have any assignments for today, so why don't I take you to meet the others?" Mr. Hirotsu offered.

"I'd be glad to." We walked towards one of the lower levels of the tower we were in. "Thank you for everything, Mr. Hirotsu. I really appreciate your kindness."

"It's really no big deal," he kept a monotone expression as he spoke. "Once I began to talk to you the other day, I noticed the pistol in your jacket. So, I knew you weren't lying when you explained what you could do. But the others don't think the same way. They're not going to accept you until they see you fight."

"Fair enough," I shrugged. "I don't need anyone's approval, whether they're my coworkers or not."

"It's smart to have allies here." Mr. Hirotsu stopped in front of a door. "Being alone will get you nowhere, especially without an ability."

He opened the door, revealing a lounge. On the back of one of the walls, leaned a boy in a white mask with his raven hair in a black bun. His gaze was stone cold, watching my every move.

On the couch lay a red-haired boy with a bandage covering his nose. He was playing with his firearm but stopped once he noticed Mr. Hirotsu and me.

"So, our newbie is a girl?" The red head in the green jacket stood up and walked over, standing a few feet away from me. "What's a little kid going to do here, sit and cry?"

He literally looks like he's my age.

"Just watch me," I growled.

"What, are you all bark and no bite?" The boy snickered. "Why should Gin and I treat you as one of us? And don't say it's cause the old man put you here."

So, I guess this one is Tachihara. That's good to know.

"I honestly don't care if you see me as one of you or not. Don't think I came here for you, because I didn't. I came here for myself."

Tachihara smirked before touching the muzzle of his gun to my head. As if on instinct, I pointed my gun to his heart.

"What now?" I chuckled.

He gritted his teeth, as Gin joined us. A sharp point knife was being held to my throat. I could easily beat these guys up with my enhanced strength, but I need to think about the mission as a whole. I lowered my gun, tucking it back into my jacket.

Putting my arms up, I sighed. "Fine, I surrender."

"That's what I thought."

"Be nice, you two," Mr. Hirotsu scolded. "The Boss himself put her here, so I wouldn't underestimate what she can do just yet."

"And you're just gonna let it happen?!" Tachihara seemed extra pissed that I was here. Gin on the other hand, hasn't spoken a word yet. "Whatever, I'm outta here."

Just like that, he walked out the door, disappearing without a trace.

"What's his problem?"

"Don't worry about him." Mr. Hirotsu looked down at me. "Tachihara isn't that bad; he just cares about his friends. Also, Gin does not speak. I thought I should inform you of that."

I looked up at the boy who hadn't said anything yet. "I'm guessing that you're, Gin. My name is (Y/n) (L/n), I hope we can become allies in the future."

Holding my hand out, he didn't accept it, but he did nod in response. Little did I know, this would be the start of a blossoming friendship.
