The Captain ended up sending me on a random side quest to go and locate some rando who may or may not have ties with the Agency. Spoiler: they didn't. I guess that this is my punishment for questioning whether our job was right or wrong. It was already eight in the morning by the time I returned.
Weary, I rubbed my eyes and inserted the key into the door, unlocking it before stepping inside.
"Y'know a note or text would've been nice!" My boyfriend let out a huff as he rose from the couch. "Where the hell were you?"
"Doing... things?" I walked up to him, keeping my arms behind me, so he wouldn't see the jacket.
"Seriously?! I was over here, worried that the police or Hunting Dogs found you!"
Well, he's not completely off. "I just paid your friend a little visit."
I watched the color drain from his face, as he caught the green jacket I tossed to him. Quickly, I took out my phone, snapping a picture of his face and sending it to Teruko and Katsumi. I am going to print and frame that photo later.
He couldn't bring himself to meet my gaze, fixated on his jacket instead, which left me no choice but to approach him and gently hold his face in my hands.
"Who'd have thought that we started out on the same side and met when going undercover as our enemies. Well, I guess it's more complicated than that now, Mr. Metal Manipulator."
"You... That doll... You're the Doll Collector."
"Huh?" I raised my brow. "Is that seriously what you called me?"
"You called me the Metal Manipulator," he reasoned.
"Yeah, but I don't collect dolls, I just happen to have a lot of them." I let out a sigh, before letting go of my boyfriend's face and sitting on the couch. "Hey, this doesn't change things between us, right?"
The redhead sat beside me, draping his arm around my torso, while I rested my head on his shoulder. "No, of course not. You're still my (Y/n)."
"And you're still my Michi."

Later that night, we were eating (f/f), as the TV played in the background. My boyfriend and I sat next to each other on the bar stools in silence.
"Was what you said the other day true?" Michizou spoke up.
"About what?"
"You said that you believed that the Armed Detective Agency is innocent," he reminded me. "Was that an act, or do you actually believe them?"
"I believe that they were framed by a gifted organization; the Decay of Angels to be exact," I admitted. "Yosano was the one who saved me all those years ago, so I wanted to be her friend. I know you have a bad history with her, but she doesn't seem like the terrorist type. The reason I ran to help her the other day was because I heard that she was going to put her life on the line to save someone she didn't know. Yeah, I get that it was advantageous to her, but she always could've let the woman die, since she could revive her."
"I don't think they're criminals either," Michizou agreed. "I didn't tell anyone about this, but the Were-tiger left a flash drive at the Sky Casino, explaining how they're innocent and how the Decay of Angels have a page that could rewrite reality. Apparently, they're planning to create global terrorism by writing on the other side of the page in nine more days."
I cast a perplexed look at my boyfriend as I turned completely to face him. "And you didn't show that to the others?! That might give us an opportunity to catch the actual bad guys!"
"It's not that simple." Michizou frowned, as he picked at his (f/f) with his (fork/spoon). "I think there's a leak in the government."
"You can't be serious?"
"Anyone you know who's been acting particularly strange about this case?"
I thought back to last night. "Well, the Captain did get very defensive when I asked for Yosano to be pardoned from her death sentence. Wait, don't tell me-"
"That's what I've been thinking."
"No, no, no. He wouldn't!" The Captain took us in when we were all at our lowest points. I don't want to believe it! I can't!
"How about we keep a close eye on him at the next meeting, 'kay?"
Leaning up from my chair, I placed a kiss on my boyfriend's cheek. "I've got your back."

Sometime during TV time, I ended up falling asleep, but I did wake up in the middle of the night with only one thing on my mind.
"Michizou?"
The red head rubbed his eyes, before looking at the digital clock.
"Baby, it's three in the morning," he groaned. "Go back to sleep."
"Is the bandage on your nose supposed to be a disguise?"
"Yeah, now go back to sleep."
"But why? It doesn't hide anything."
After letting out an exaggerated sigh, my boyfriend pulled my head into his chest. "Sleep."
