(Y/n)'s POV:

Following the Guild incident, numerous smaller factions emerged, believing they could outdo the organization that nearly brought Yokohama to ruin on two occasions.

"Organization number twenty-three, dead." Murmuring to myself, I struck another name from the list at my kitchen counter. "Cute, there's like fifteen more to go."

"Well at least we're over halfway done." Michizou wrapped his arms around me from behind. "What's next?"

"The Trash Monsters."

"BAHAHAHAHAHA!" He laughed, burying his face in my neck. "What are they, five?!"

"Sounds like a waste of time," I sighed.

The red head stopped laughing, turning me around to face him. "You know, Gin and the old man can handle themselves on this mission."

"What? We can't just ditch them!" I retorted.

"Haha, have you never heard of calling out sick?" Michizou fake coughed then winked at me.

None of the last 23 groups were any big threats, so I guess a day away from everything couldn't hurt.

"Alright, where too then?"

-At The Park-

Michi was right, a walk through the park was just what I needed to clear my head. Balancing all of these missions for both the Hunting Dogs and for the Port Mafia was getting to me. It was getting dark outside, so not many people were around.

"Over here." Gently, Michizou took my hand, pulling me over to the railing. "It should be starting soon."

"What's starting soon?"

"Every year, the people at the docks light up fireworks," he explained. "When I was younger, I used to always slip away to watch them. I never really understood why they did it, but I was always so entranced by the lights." The red head placed his arm around my back. "I just thought that you might like to see them too."

"Aww, that's so sweet of you." I left a quick peck on his cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too." He wasted no time in leaning down and closing the distance.

As we pulled away, the fireworks began. With every loud boom, the sky was painted with an array of colors. Throughout the display, I leaned my head on Michi's shoulder, and he leaned his on mine.

I believed the worst possible scenario was encountering Gin or Hirotsu. It was naive of me to overlook the others who couldn't be present.

"Tecchou, why did you take me here?" I heard Jouno's voice coming from our right. "You do realize that I can't see." He covered his nose and mouth with his hand. "And the smell of sulfur is disgusting!"

Jouno's POV:

To my left, the sound of two familiar voices reached me. Tachihara and (Y/n)? What were they doing here, and how on earth did they know each other? Edging closer to my irritating companion, I whispered into his ear to ensure our conversation remained private.

"Those two over there, is that (Y/n) and Tachihara?"

I could hear the muscles in Teccho's neck move in that direction before returning to their normal place.

"Last time I checked they don't know each other." The brunette thought out loud. "We should go say hello and find out how-."

"No, you idiot!" I attempted to stay at a lower volume. "Chances are they don't know that they're both Hunting Dogs. Besides, they already noticed that we're here, so I don't expect them to be staying much longer. I can hear both of their heartrates speeding up."

(Y/n)'s POV:

This isn't good. I turned to face my boyfriend and found that he was already staring at me with a look of concern. His expression was far from pleasant; it was clear he was very worried.

Bending down to my ear, he whispered, "I'm sorry, I can't explain but we need to get out of here."

"Yeah."

As we intertwined our fingers, we walked in the opposite direction from Jouno and Tecchou. I wonder if he knows with those two.

Once safely back in our apartment, we settled on the couch and started a movie. As I lay resting against the redhead, I observed that he was fiddling with my hair more than usual, winding the strands around his fingers.

"Is something bothering you?" I asked.

"O-of course not!" He shuttered.

I cradled his cheek in my hand, gently stroking it with my thumb. "It had to do with those two men. They're why we left, aren't they?"

"What, I don't know what you're-"

"You were staring directly at them before you said that we needed to leave." Why am I still going, I'm gonna give myself away? "Have you met them before?"

Before I even knew it, his hand found itself behind my head, forcefully shoving it into his shoulder.

"I encountered those two in a fight before," he began. "They're powerful ability users who are highly ranked in the government. If they caught us, then we'd be dead. That would have been a terrible date."

He got into a fight with them and managed to get away? Strange. I feel like I would've heard about this from one of the two.

"You're right," I laughed it off. "Well, I'm glad that we were still able to spend the evening together. Even if we were almost caught."
