Rahul stood in the hallway, staring at Virat’s closed door. His heart pounded in his chest, heavy with the weight of his guilt. He had been avoiding this moment for too long, but now he knew he had to face it. Virat was his best friend, and the silence between them was tearing him apart. Rahul took a deep breath, summoning the courage to knock.

'I know he’s not someone who forgives easily… but I need to try. I need him back in my life.'

The door creaked open after a few seconds, and Virat appeared, his expression cold and unreadable. Rahul felt his throat tighten at the sight of his best friend’s distant demeanor.

“What do you want, Rahul?”

Rahul swallowed hard, stepping forward but stopping at the threshold, unsure if he was welcome inside.

“Virat… I need to talk to you. Please, just listen.”

Virat’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn’t shut the door. Rahul took that as a small victory and walked in, standing awkwardly by the window where Virat had been sitting moments ago.

“I know you have every right to be angry with me. I… I let you down when you needed me the most. I didn’t believe you, didn’t stand by you. And I’m sorry, Virat. I’m so, so sorry.”

Virat remained silent, his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the wall. Rahul’s voice grew more desperate as he continued.

“I’ve missed you. I miss the way things used to be between us. You’re my best friend, Virat, and I can’t stand this distance between us. Please… give me a chance to make things right.”

There was a long, painful silence. Rahul stood there, his heart in his throat, waiting for some kind of response from Virat. But Virat’s face was still blank, his eyes cold.

Rahul voice breaking. “I’ll do anything, Virat. Anything to have my best friend back.”

Just as Rahul was about to lose hope, something in Virat’s expression shifted. His posture softened, and without saying a word, he stepped forward and pulled Rahul into a tight embrace.

Virat softly. “You’re an idiot, Rahul.”

Rahul’s eyes widened in shock, but then the weight of the moment hit him, and he hugged Virat back just as tightly.

Rahul choked up “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”

Virat patted his back, his voice calmer now.

“I know. But let’s not dwell on it anymore. We’ve been through worse. We’ll get through this too.”

Rahul pulled back, wiping at his eyes, unable to believe that Virat had actually forgiven him. He had been prepared for a much longer, much harder road to forgiveness, but here they were, back to being best friends.

Rahul grinning through his tears “I’ll never let you down again, Virat. I swear.”

Virat Smiled faintly “You’d better not. Now, stop crying. You’re embarrassing both of us.”

Rahul let out a small laugh, the tension finally breaking as they stood together like old times. Their friendship had survived yet another storm, and the bond between them was stronger than ever.

Mahi leaned against the railing outside the house, staring into the night. He had been watching everything closely, especially how Rohit and Virat had started to reconnect. Though he was happy that his brother had found it in his heart to forgive, there was still a part of Mahi that wasn’t fully convinced that things would stay this way. He heard footsteps approaching and knew who it was without even looking.
