Chapter 34: A Night of Loss

Y/N’s POV

The ballroom was chaos. The once vibrant and festive atmosphere had shattered into a flurry of panic and confusion after the gunshots rang out. My heart was pounding in my chest, my legs moving on instinct as Hyunjin and I rushed toward the sound.

When we arrived at the corner room where the shot had come from, outside the room was a crowd trying to enter as Bangchan and Felix try to stop them from entering.

Hyunjin and I quickly made our way towards the room.
I felt my stomach drop when I saw the scene inside. It was worse than I had imagined.

Jisung lay motionless on the floor, blood staining his chest. His breathing was shallow, his eyes barely open. Nearby, Jasmine was slumped over, her head bleeding, a knife embedded in her thigh. The sight sent a wave of nausea through me.

"Jisung!" Hyunjin shouted, dropping to his knees beside him, his face pale with fear.

I moved toward Jasmine, my hands trembling as I knelt beside her. My heart raced as I pulled out my handkerchief and pressed it against her head wound, trying to stop the bleeding.

“Jasmine… stay with me. Please, just stay awake,” I whispered, my voice shaky as panic clawed at me.

Her breathing was shallow, but at least she was still breathing. I clutched her hand, hoping it would help her hold on. Jasmine was slowly loosing consciousness.

Jeongin burst into the room moments later, his eyes wide with horror as he took in the scene. “What happened?” he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.

“We don’t know!” Hyunjin called out, still focused on Jisung. “Get help, Jeongin, go find the medics!”

Jeongin nodded and immediately turned on his heel, rushing out the door with Bangchan following close behind him.

Felix let's out a frustrated sigh. "How could this have happened?"

I turned my attention back to Jasmine, trying to focus on her injuries, but I couldn't stop glancing at Jisung. His eyes flickered toward me, trying to say something. His lips moved, forming silent words, but I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. His gaze fixed on me, and a chill ran down my spine.

“Jisung...” I whispered, leaning forward as Hyunjin checked for his pulse.

Before Jisung could finish whatever he was trying to say, his eyes slowly closed, his body going limp in Hyunjin’s arms.

“Hyunjin,” I said quietly, dread pooling in my stomach, “is he...”

Hyunjin didn’t respond immediately. He placed a hand on Jisung’s neck, searching for any sign of life. But when he looked back up at me, his eyes were filled with pain.

“He’s gone,” Hyunjin said, his voice barely a whisper, filled with disbelief and sorrow.

I bit down hard on my lip, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill. The room felt cold, suffocating. We had just lost one of our closest friends—someone who had always been there for us with his goofy jokes and light-hearted spirit. And now... he was gone.

---

The doctor arrived moments later, confirming what we already knew—Jisung was dead. The medics worked quickly to stabilize Jasmine’s injuries, rushing her to the infirmary. Bangchan and Seungmin stepped in to announce the end of the ball, dispersing the remaining guests.

As the crowd thinned, suddenly Seungmin comes with a panick look in his face. "Guys......I can't seem to find Elza. Did you guys see her?"

But everyone was so strucked by the scene that no one noticed Eliza's absence until now.
