As a dog, Zwei always had a better sense of things than his human family ever did. He could sense emotions even if they were displayed subtly or from a greater range. As of now, he could sense her beloved Ruby Rose was in danger. Something had gone wrong, and there was no doubt about it from his good boy senses. He got out of his little sleeping spot to find help, but everyone from team RWBY was asleep, so he waddled his way to where the mercenaries were to see if any of them were awake.
There was one that was awake, Akula was sitting against the wall thinking to himself. A blank stare was plastered on his face, pointed directly at his rifle, which sat on his lap. He waddles over to Akula, who immediately noticed his presence waving him over.
"Heyyy doggy..." Upon reaching him within arm's reach, he gives Zwei several strokes starting from the next down to the base of his tail in a slow, gentle manner.
"Why are you up this early?" He piqued curiously.
Zwei just gave a whimper in response, trying to signal something was wrong to him.
"Aye? What's up?" Zwei starts walking away from him through the way he just came, trying to get Akula to follow him so he could show that Ruby was missing.
"You want me to follow you...?" He confirms with the black corgi who was already in the middle room, to which Zwei gave a nod. Akula got up, feeling that cracking and popping sound from his bones not moving for an extended period of time. When he reached the middle room, Zwei was staring into the area where team RWBY was sleeping and one member was missing. Something was wrong, and Akula rushed to check the outside where everyone did their business, bursting out the door calling out for her, but there was no response. Only the infinite silence greeted him.
Texas and Floridaman woke up from Akula calling out for Ruby, having not been able to settle into deep sleep yet, unlike the others. When he rushed back to where everyone was sleeping, he thanked the Lord that the 2 men had awoken and moved to quickly inform them of what had happened.
"Tex, Florida...your awake!"
"The fuck you yelling for?!" Texas shouted.
"Ruby's missing!" Akula yells back urgency in his voice.
"You sure she didn't go to shit? I remember she said something about that to us..." Floridaman recalled when he was on watch Ruby had gone out telling him and Texas both what she intended to do.
"She isn't there tourists." Zwei backed Akula's statement by giving a nod.
"Fuck." Was the only word Texas let out when he realized she may have had heard the conversation.
"She might have heard it and went off on her own."
"God fucking damn it." Floridaman swore.
Texas got up in quick motion, moving to put on all his essential equipment. While doing so, he came up with plans based on what scenario could play out. Either they find Ruby, or she's just gone without a trace.
"Akula wake the girls up, Floridaman get Moron up. Tell everyone to grab their shit and pit it on immediately. We're looking for Ruby, and if we can't find her by morning, I'm calling the mission off and getting...well I don't fucking know." Texas explained his plan or what little there was of it he had conjured up.
That's when Zwei began barking as loud as he could only amplified more by the sound waves reversing and bouncing off the concrete walls to produce a sharp sound that woke the light sleepers up near instantly sending Blake and Weiss jolting up from their sleeping bags. Moron and Yang meanwhile as heavy sleepers and took some rough shaking by Texas and Floridaman, respectively. Everyone was goggy eyed and dazed, but all the barking just jolted their senses to life. The awoken mercenaries began to shout, projecting their voice telling everyone to get up.
