THIRD PERSON
lynn had no idea what was going on with ruby. she wanted to ask, but she didn't want to push any boundaries. when lynn texted her and got left on read, her heart sank. she always thought ruby was cool since they met, but since she bailed on basketball tryouts, she's been acting... different? lynn was hoping ruby would come around at the pep-rally tonight and they could end up being friends, although lynn didn't think ruby liked her very much.
lynn was going through her closest, tossing every piece of clothing she could find on the floor. none of it was good enough for a pep-rally, at least in her eyes. she thought it'd be weird to wear one of her sport uniforms to a rally about football when she's not even on the school team, so she had to settle for finding something else. the issue was, lynn never wore anything else. as she started to get frustrated going through the closet, she heard a knock on the door.
"whatcha doing little sis" lynn's older sister luna walked in the room. she could tell lynn was having some trouble finding something to wear, finding it quite odd due to the fact that she never wore anything other than a regular sport jersey or uniform for whatever she had going on that day. luna sat down on lynn's bed, watching her growl and groan in frustration at everything she pulled out of the closet. she wondered what was so important to stress lynn out so much about an outfit, because she literally never did.
"do you need some help...?" luna asked, sitting up off the bed and walking over to the large pile of clothes laying on the floor. it took her a while to find anything other than sporty stuff, but she eventually settled on a blue t-shirt underneath a black and white adidas jacket, with some black shorts and sneakers. luna was surprised when lynn actually seemed to like the outfit. it felt casual enough to say 'i'm trying to show you i care, but not try too hard' without saying it. it was perfect. of course she just put her hair up in her signature ponytail, a few stray stands sticking out. she was actually quite happy with the way she looked tonight, and she secretly hoped ruby would be too.
TIME SKIP
ruby showed up to the pep-rally with cami and effie after going over to cami's house with the both of them after school to get ready. they actually ended up having a really fun time, listening to music, doing their makeup and getting dressed. ruby was a little nervous for her first time cheering with the girls for a rally, but she was confident in her abilities. she had done it many times with her old team, and knew she could do it, but she missed doing it back home with her best friends. it didn't take long for lynn to spot ruby, trying to find an opening where she wasn't practicing with her team, since she really wanted to talk to her. she didn't even know what she wanted to talk about, she just knew she was interested in ruby's life. after all, the only reason she showed up to this stupid pep-rally anyway was to watch her cheer.
lynn couldn't lie to herself, she liked the way ruby looked in her bright white, red and blue cheer uniform and makeup. she looked really pretty. sure, lynn thought ruby was always pretty, but especially tonight. there was just something about the way the short skirt fit around her waist, and the top hugged her body tightly. friday night was the first night lynn noticed that her interest in ruby might just not be friendly, but she pushed it aside, not even knowing it ruby liked girls or not. it'd be pretty weird if she told a girl she barely knew that she was cute, right? or at least lynn felt that way.
interrupting ruby's loud thoughts as always, the school marching band began playing their music, signalling for the principal to come out and make a speech. everyone cheered loudly as the principal gave a motivational speech about the history of the school's sports achievements, and the future of them as everyone hoped the mens football team would be able to bring home the championship trophy for the 18th year in a row tomorrow night against the team's biggest competition.
