THIRD PERSON

as the weeks flew by, ruby and lynn grew closer, but as their bond grew stronger, their secret feelings for each other also did. so much so, that effie and cami started to get suspicious about what was going on between the two of them. they seemed to be doing a lot of out of the blue flirting. the two girls secretly shipped their friends together, but they didn't want to bring it up to them, just in case it made things in their group get awkward if one of them had unrequited feelings. that'd be a nightmare. all the girls were quite happy about the fact that lynn had joined their group, especially effie, because now she had a good friend on her basketball team.

as time went on, ruby began realising royal woods wasn't actually too bad, it was really growing on her. she felt like herself again, which made her mum really happy once she noticed. lynn and ruby even began walking to and from school together, which her mum also caught on to. she was really glad ruby was making friends at school, she wanted nothing but the best for her little girl. ruby felt her spark and happiness slowly making its way back to her as she began hanging out with her new friends and cheering more often. life felt magical again, almost as it had when she was a child and had no worries. emphasis on the almost, because she still hadn't figured out what to do about her crush on lynn.

TIME SKIP

ruby had been at royal woods for over a month now, and everything seemed to be going great. she was on the cheer team, had an amazing friend group, and her grades were great. her life was really turning around since she had moved. she even started spending more time with lynn at school, joining the same p.e. class as her. they were getting pretty close, yet neither of them had the guts to confess their feelings to each other.

RUBY'S POV

i headed over to lynn's house as soon as i got her text. i'd be lying if i said it didn't give me butterflies every time we spoke. even though it had been a month, my nerves around her only grew stronger, my feelings for her growing at the same time. i still haven't necessarily come to terms with my sexuality... i know i like girls, but i still can't tell if i like guys. if i'm honest, i've never really liked one the way i like lynn before, but maybe i just haven't found the right one. actually, i've never liked anyone the way i like lynn. there's just something special about her that i can't pull away from, but i admire from a distance, because i don't want to fuck up our friendship.

as the door opened, a short haired brunette dressed in purple head to toe answered the door. i didn't expect her to know who i am until she asked if i was ruby. does this mean lynn talks about me? oh my god. i shouldn't freak out, but i am! internally... i had already been to lynn's house a few times now since we started hanging out, but i never spoke to any of her siblings. i suppose they noticed i came around sometimes and asked about me. it's probably not a big deal, lynn was just being friendly, right?

the girl introduced herself as luna, one of lynn's older sisters. she seemed like a sweet person, which eased my nerves a little. it didn't take long for all of her siblings to start crowding around me after realising i was a friend of lynn's. it took me by surprise how interested they all seemed to be in me, but i was glad they didn't hate me. i've heard they can be pretty over protective at times. lynn walked down the stairs, forcing her siblings away and taking me up to her room. my stomach turned as she grabbed my hand and pulled me. not long after i had arrived, lynn's dad yelled out for everyone to get into their family van, 'vanzilla' for lynn's basketball game, already being late.
