I got hungry and since neither leaders have made hunting parties, I'm gonna hunt some food for me, I started walking out of of camp but stopped when I heard twigs snap I turned towards the sound to see Murphy throwing a knife to a tree and failing miserably "That damn kid, always messing with my head." "Or maybe you're just bad at everything" "Like you could do any better" Murphy defended "Anyone could do better than you" I said and Murphy was about to say something but Bellamy butted into the conversation "Murphy give her your knife. Time to see if your bluffing love" Bellamy as Murphy handed me his knife, I took it readjusted it's position and threw it at the tree, it sticked right in the center "Where did you learn to do that?" Bellamy asked but before I could answer Atom and the rest of Bellamy's goons came. Atom looked at me unsure to talk with me here "We searched a half-mile all directions. No sign of Trina or Pascal." Atom informed. My people wouldn't kidnap them for anything else than information and since that's my job it couldn't have been them "Visit your special tree when you were out there?" Murphy taunted and I looked at Bellamy as if asking "what the hell is he talking about?" "Atom took his punishment. Let it go." Bellamy ordered "Could be Grounders." Atom said "Yeah, or they could be in pound town. Lot of that going around recently." Murphy said. So that's what happened. Atom and Octavia did and Bellamy caught them. Jasper moans could still be heard though we were out of the camp "Look, Bellamy, people are scared, and that dying kid, he's not helping the morale around here." Atom said "Morale will go up when I find them more food." Bellamy said "And what do we say when they ask about Trina and Pascal?" Another of his goons asked "Now? Nothing. It's possible they're just lost. We'll keep an eye out for them when we go hunting later." Bellamy said. Lost? No. Dead? For sure "Let's go kill something." Murphy said "As if you could kill something" I butted into the conversation "Katherine is right. You're not going." Bellamy said and I smirked "I need you to stay here. If the Grounders are circling, we can't leave this place unprotected." Bellamy said. Protect them? Murphy can't use a pocket knife, so how the hell does he think Murphy can 'defend' them "Fine. Somebody better tell goggle boy to keep it shut." Murphy said before walking away towards camp "You're coming hunting with us" Bellamy ordered "Am I now?" I asked in amusement that he actually thought he could control me "Since you're such a show off with the knife, you are. I'll come get you when it's time to go" "Alright freckles" I said before walking away towards camp, about ten minutes later Octavia came up to me "Hey Kath" "Tavia. What's up?" "Atom isn't talking to me. I think Bellamy did something to him" Tavia said. You got no idea girl "How can I help?" "I wanna confront him about it. So I thought you could maybe come with me in case I need back up?" Tavia asked "Let's go then" I said getting up and following her to Bellamy's tent as we stormed in "With weapons..." Bellamy stopped when we stormed in "What did you do to Atom?" Tavia asked getting straight to the pointed and Bellamy motions for Murphy to leave so he does. He really is Bellamy's dog. I almost feel bad for him. "Atom's fine." Bellamy said. He is officially the worst liar in history "Then why did he blow me off?" Tavia asked "Maybe he's just not interested." Bellamy said. Not interested after they made out. That's some weird logic "You can't keep everyone away from me." Tavia said "Atom had to learn. You disobey me, you pay the price. He paid the price. Now we're good."Bellamy said. Octavia "Now I'm paying the price. So, next time you decide to go on a power trip, leave me out of it." Tavia said and I smirked. They Blakes do have fire "Octavia-" Bellamy started but was interrupted by a loud shout. Jasper. I didn't think twice before running towards the dropship not caring to check if they were following. I know I shouldn't care but they are human, innocent, they were sent against their will. I go to the second floor of the dropship to find Clarke placing a heated knife wrongly on Jasper's chest to remove the infected flesh. Shit. She's gonna kill him if she keeps going. "Clarke stop" I yelled as I crouched down in front of Jasper "She's saving his life" Finn said "Well she's doing it wrong. If she had kept going he'd be dead" I said ripping the heated knife out of Clarke's hand "What?" Tavia exclaimed as she sat down next to me "I thought-" Clarke started "Next time call me Clarke" I said "Hold him down again" I ordered and they did as told as I started to remove the infected flesh correctly, Jasper passed out from the pain "Is he-" Monty started "Relax. He passed out from the pain" I explained as I put the knife down on the floor "You can't save him" Bellamy said "Back off" Wells said as he stood up "We didn't drag him through miles of woods just to let him die." Clarke said "Kid's a goner. If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy." Bellamy pushed "Sorry if Jasper's an inconvenience to you, but this isn't the Ark. Down here, every life matters." Clarke said again as I cleaned Jasper's forehead "Take a look at him. He's a lost cause." Bellamy kept pushing "Octavia, my mother thought me medicine since I was twelve. If I say there's hope, there is" I said "This isn't about hope, it's about guts. You don't have the guts to make the hard choices. I do. He's been like this for three days. If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll kill him myself." Bellamy said. "You're gonna have to go past us for that to happen" Finn said putting a hand on my shoulder "Octavia, let's go." Bellamy ordered "I'm staying here." Tavia said and I smirked "Katherine, the group leaves in ten" Bellamy informed "I'll be there in a sec" I answered, then Bellamy went down the ladder "Where are you going?" Wells asked "Hunting. They are all crap hunters, so I don't go-" "We'd starve. Good luck" Finn said "Don't need it Finny" I said before going down the ladder About fifteen minutes later we had caught a deer but nothing else and of course it was me who got the deer. We were following a boar "Shh.... She's mine." Bellamy said then out of nowhere a twig snaps behind us and Bellamy throws his axe behind him, hitting a tree, narrowly missing a little girl who had stepped on the twig. Bellamy's goons go after the boar, while we look at the little girl "What's your name kid?" I asked. I've always had a soft spot for kids, it was cause of my siblings, I really miss them "Charlotte." The little girl answered. She looked a bit younger than my siblings "I almost killed you. Why aren't you back at camp?" Bellamy asked "Well, what with that guy who was dying, I just... I couldn't listen anymore." Charlotte answered "He's not dying Charlotte. He's just really ill" I said softly "There's Grounders out here. It's too dangerous for a little girl." Atom butted in "I'm not little." Charlotte defended. Aww. But she's literally pint sized "Okay, then..." Bellamy started as he pulls out a knife and hands it to Charlotte. "But you can't hunt without a weapon. Ever killed something before?" Bellamy asked and Charlotte shakes her head "Who knows? Maybe you're good at it." Bellamy said before we kept walking. I know Charlotte needs to be able to defend herself but I have a bad feeling about this. Then we heard a horn. No. Damn it. There couldn't be a worse time for this. I resisted the urge to run and leave them "What was that?" Charlotte asked "Bellamy" I called as I pointed at the fog not too far away from us "Run" Bellamy yelled and all the group started running like their lives depended on it cause I mean they do, Bellamy and I were leading as we dragged Charlotte with us, I know there are some caves nearby but I'm not sure we'll make it there in time "Come on! There are caves this way." Bellamy said seeing the caves. Looks like we're gonna live. Bellamy, Charlotte, Atom and I got separated from the rest, both Bellamy and I each grabbed one of Charlotte's hands but we heard Atom trip in the way just as we got closer to the cave, I saw how it started engulfing him. I know it wasn't gonna end well for him, I've seen too many of my people die from it. "Bellamy!" Atom yelled for help just as us three started coughing, the fog was starting to get to our lungs, we needed to get to the cave. NOW. We couldn't save Atom. But we could get Charlotte to safety. The fog forces us into the cave, leaving Atom outside. We all sat in the cave in silence for about five minutes "Can we play something?" Charlotte asked interrupting the silence "Well, what do you wanna play?" I asked softly "Anything. I'm dying of boredom" Charlotte exaggerated and I smiled "How about tic tac toe?" I offered "I'm so gonna win" Charlotte said "We'll see about that" I said, we had played about a thousand times and now I was the one dying of boredom but Charlotte looked happy so I didn't fight it. "You two need to rest" Bellamy said taking the small rock from me I was using as a pencil "Alright dad. We'll play one more and then Charlotte will go rest" I said and Charlotte giggled "Fine love" Bellamy said and I rolled my eyes, I was gonna win and honestly all three of us knew it but I wanted Charlotte to go to sleep happy so I lost on purpose "I won. Wait you let me win didn't you?" Charlotte asked "I did not" "You did" Charlotte said "Did not" "Did too" Charlotte said "Alright Charlotte time to rest" Bellamy said, Charlotte placed her head on my lap and I covered her tiny body with my jacket, I know I'd freeze but she's a kid, she needs it more than me. I was making a French braid with her hair like I always did with Hallie. I want to see them. Wait crap, I haven't reported to Lexa. I'll sneak out at midnight "You're good with her" Bellamy said after a small silence "I guess" "You know you always seem so adventurous and fearless but you seemed like a complete different person with her" Bellamy said "She's just a kid, she shouldn't be here" "You'd be a good older sister" Bellamy said and I did my best to hide my smile, that was the best compliment ever, I always did my best for my siblings even after our parents died "I never asked, what's your crime?" Bellamy asked. Theft sounds stupid but I already said it to a couple people, I could say I have siblings, but that could endanger them, but it wouldn't, it's not like they are gonna meet. Think Katherina. Think "I- it was theft" "Thought it'd be something worse considering you beat the crap out of Murphy" Bellamy said "I'd definitely do that again" I said and Bellamy laughed "We should rest" Bellamy said "Yeah" Bellamy helped me move Charlotte off of my lap without waking her up so I could lay down, then Bellamy and I layed down on opposites walls of the cave "Good night love" "Night freckles" I said before I finally got to rest I woke up after hearing someone yell "No!" It was Charlotte. Nightmare probably. Before I could say anything Bellamy gets closer and tries to wake Charlotte "Charlotte, wake up." Bellamy said. I decided let him handle it "I'm sorry." Charlotte apologized "Does it happen often?" Bellamy asked and Charlotte just sighs, giving Bellamy his answer "What are you scared of? You know what? It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what you do about it." Bellamy said. "But... I'm asleep." Charlotte said "Fears are fears. Slay your demons when you're awake, they won't be there to get you when you sleep." Bellamy said. That's a bit much for a twelve year old "Yeah, but... How?" Charlotte asked "You can't afford to be weak. Down here, weakness is death, fear is death. Let me see that knife I gave you." Bellamy said and Charlotte hands over the knife, Bellamy grips the knife tightly. "Now, when you feel afraid, you hold tight to that knife and you say, 'screw you. I'm not afraid."Bellamy said as he handed the knife back to Charlotte and she grips it tightly with both hands then she timidly repeats Bellamy's words "Screw you. I'm not afraid." "Char you can do better than that" Charlotte, with a little more confidence, repeats Bellamy's words "Screw you. I'm not afraid." Bellamy smiles and gently pats Charlotte "Slay your demons, kid. Then you'll be able to sleep." Bellamy comforted. That's one hell of a thing to tell a kid her age. "You're wrong" "What?" "Fear isn't dead, it's what keeps you alive, alert. Fear can empower you just as much as it can weaken you" "I guess you have a point love" "Why the nickname?" "Why not?" Bellamy asked and I rolled my eyes "Night freckles" "Night" *Next day* "Anybody out here? Jones?" Bellamy yelled as we walked out of the cave "We're here!" A boy yelled and we ran towards them "Lost you in the stew. Where'd you go?" Bellamy said "Made it to a cave down there." Jones explained "The hell was that?" Bellamy asked ""I don't know." Jones said "Where's Atom?" Bellamy asks out of the blue "I don't know" "Spread out he couldn't have gotten far" Bellamy ordered and we all started looking and we heard a scream. Charlotte. Shit. I ran towards the scream and saw Charlotte staring at Atom who lies on the ground dying painfully. (Ten years ago) "Hey where is Emma?" Indra asked "We got separated" James said as we and all the other kids in our group sat in the cave "We don't know if she made it to a cave" After a day the yellow fog cleared out and we looked for Emma, we found her laying on the floor dying painfully, her body covered in blisters "Sister" I heard James mutter before crouching down in front of Emma, I placed a hand on his shoulder "Get out of here both of you. Go back to TonDC. NOW" Indra ordered and I grabbed James' hand and helped him up and once we were out of earshot James broke down and I hugged him, as we both cried for the loss of his sister, my best friend. "Son of a bitch. Atom." I heard Bellamy muttered snapping me out of my flashback, I crouched down in front of Atom as did Bellamy "Kill me. Kill me. Kill... me." Atom rasped out, he is gasping from pain and lack of oxygen and we heard the rest of the hunting group get here, Bellamy stands back up but I stayed crouched down staring at Atom remembering Emma, how much I miss her. "I... can't... breathe." Atom says "Don't be afraid." I heard Charlotte tell Bellamy so I turned my head around to see Charlotte giving Bellamy his knife back "Go back to camp." Bellamy orders and the hunting party leaves but Charlotte stays "Charlotte, you too." I say and Charlotte leaves as Bellamy crouches back down "Kill... me. Bell...a...my... pl...ea..se." Atom begged as Clarke approaches from behind and Atom continues to choke, both Bellamy and I looked at her as if asking 'can you cure him?' And she just shakes her head sadly "Plea...se." "We heard screams." Finn said "Charlotte found him. We sent her back to camp." Bellamy informed and Clarke looks at me as if asking 'who's gonna do it?' And I just nodded turning to Atom "Okay. I'm gonna help you, all right?" I said taking the knife from Bellamy's hand. I pierced Atom's neck with the knife. It was a mercy kill. You had no choice. But there's always a choice. You let him die just like Emma. I stood up "We need to take him back to camp, bury him" I said and they all nodded. About an hour later we entered camp. "We've gotta get to Jasper. I'll need boiled water to make the medicine." Clarke said before her and Finn leave. I walked into Octavia's and I shared tent and since she wasn't around I took out my small black notebook and wrote Atom next to the pile of names, then I put it back in my bag before sneaking out of camp to go to Lincoln's cave. I need to convince Lexa to make peace with them. They're not warriors, just kids- teenagers.
