The footsteps stalled right in front of the bedroom door before creaking open slowly.

The suspense was killing me. I was scared but at the same time, very curious about the little girl. I knew she had entered the room but with Logan standing in front of me, I wasn't able to see her.

The little girl exclaimed something in her native tongue before taking off towards her father. With ease, Logan bent down and picked Aya up off the ground and hugged her tightly.

With her eyes screwed shut, she hugged her father back with as much force as she could muster and squealed in delight.

That was until she opened her eyes and saw me standing behind him. All traces of her joyous behavior quickly diminished as she pulled away from Logan's shoulder.

"Min dhak," Aya said, scrunching up her nose.

My stomach rolled at her seemingly immediate disapproval. However, it further proved my point about how mean kids could be. I didn't even know what she said but I was too scared that it would hurt my feelings. I did my best to push back my sensitivity as Logan turned around to face me.

"Ella," He spoke softly back to her, bringing her closer to me. Aya didn't take her eyes off of me as Logan gave her some explanation as to who I was. She responded in Arabic with something that struck Logan a little funny as he started to chuckle.

He let her slide through his arms until her feet were touching the floor. Still, she kept her eyes on me, squinting as she gave me once-over after once-over.

"She's very wary of new people," Logan said, pulling my attention away from the scowling toddler.

"What did you tell her?"

"That you're my friend. She seemed surprised that I had friends."

"I don't think she likes me," I looked down at her as she wrapped her arm around her fathers leg.

"She just needs time to get used to you. I'm sure by the end of the week, she will be attached to your hip."

"I don't know, Logan. She looks like she wants me dead," I gestured towards the child. Logan followed me eyes and sighed before picking up Aya. He said something to her which made her eyes light up as she vigorously nodded her head.

"I'm going to take her to the kitchen to get her some ice cream. I'll send someone up to unpack your bags, you just relax."

"Oh, no, I can manage to unpack my own bags. Besides, I wouldn't put it past those maids to put tacks or something in my clothes."

He smiled, "As you wish. I'll be back soon."

I watched the two of them as they retreated and sighed to myself when Aya sent me another snotty glare before they rounded the corner. That was not how I had hoped meeting Logan's daughter for the first time would go but there wasn't much else I could do about it. Most children didn't like their parent's significant other but Aya was so young, did she even know what significant other even meant? Furthermore, Logan told her I was his friend so why did she hate me right off the bat?

Deciding that maybe Logan was right, she was his daughter after all, maybe she just needed a little time to get used to me. So while I gave her that time, I started unpacking my clothes, waiting for Logan to return.

Halfway through my first suitcase, there was a light knock on the door. I turned around to see Lily standing there with bright, excited eyes.

"When he said he was bringing you back to the estate, I thought he was just pulling my leg." She enthused, stepping into the room. "I've missed you so much, Ella!"

Lily pulled me in for a hug, a tight, bone-crushing hug but I couldn't complain. I had missed her this much too.

"I've missed you, too."

She pulled away and held me at arms length, giving me a thorough once-over. She nodded in satisfaction before turning me around to get a look at the back.

"Like fine wine, Ella. You have aged like fine wine." She commented, turning me back around to face her.

"You really think so? I've gained a little-,"

"Oh, shut up. You look amazing. And your hair, so freaking cute!" She lightly pulled at the ends of my short bob. "So, how have you been?"

How have I been? What a loaded question. I was sad but also happy. I missed Logan but also I was glad to be away from him. Now, with graduation, discovering he has a kid and moving in with him again, all within the span of a few days was very nerve-wracking. Not to mention, Aya obviously is not fond of me at all.

But should I really mention all of that to Lily? When people ask you that question, do they really expect you to dump everything on them at that moment? Probably not. So instead, I gave her the short, paraphrased answer.

"I've been good. How about you?"

She beamed, "I've been so good. Living the auntie life has never made me so happy. You know, I thought I wanted kids but now, I don't have to!"

"That's awesome, Lily. I'm happy to hear that."

"Alright, lay it all on me. No bullshit, tell me every single thing."

I paused and watched her take a seat on the bed. She looked at me expectantly, waiting for me to spill any and everything.

"Okay, but it's a lot." I caved and took my place next to her.

For the next hour or two we just talked about everything that I had been dying to get off my chest. I had been longing for this, someone to tell everything to.

Of course, I had Gabby and Donnie but there were parts of my life I had to leave out. The parts that included Logan. Obviously, I couldn't talk to Farah about these things given the fact that she was a bitch. And my parents couldn't care less about any of my problems since it didn't directly involve them.

So it's just been four years of pent up gossip and personal issues that need to be released and lucky for me, Lily wanted to hear all of it. Even the things that included her brother, though, I did tread lightly about the more...intimate things involving her sibling.

"You were supposed to be getting unpacked," Logan said, appearing at the door to our room. "Not letting Lily talk your ear off." His sister gasped and tossed a pillow at him which he swiftly dodged.

"You've kept us separate for four years, there was a lot to catch up on." She defended, standing to her feet. "But, I've kept her for a couple of hours now so I suppose I'll pass her off to you again. Where's my little Aya-baby?"

"Hajra,"

She groaned, "Now I have to fight with her which isn't fun anymore with her old age."

"And you have fun with that. Don't come back until this door is open, okay?" Logan ushered her out of the room, closing the door and locking it behind him before she even had the chance to answer. "Alright, get undressed."

His command was swiftly followed by him removing his clothing.

"We're doing it already?"

He chuckled as he pulled his shirt off over his head. "If by 'it', you mean a nap, then yes. We're going to do it for the next-" he looked at his watch "-hour and a half. That okay with you?"

Now that he mentions it, I definitely could go for a little nap. How he was tired after sleeping the entire plane ride here, I don't know but I wasn't going to turn him down. I quickly stripped out of my outer clothing and got underneath the blankets with him.
