After dinner, we went home and I took a shower to get all the makeup off my face. Once I finished, I wrapped my hair and body in a towel. I put on some lotion on to make my skin super soft. I put my softest pajamas on. I climbed into bed and slowly drifted to sleep.
The next morning I woke up to the sound of the birds chirping. Graduation day was finally here. I rolled out of bed landing on the floor softly. I walked over to the dresser where my phone was and set alarm so we would know what time to leave the house. I have eight hours to get ready for tonight. I pulled out my "gown" and cap and set it on the bed. I started to prepare myself for the night ahead of me.
After eight hours of glossing, flossing, straightening, applying makeup, showering, and painting nails and toe nails, I was standing in front of the mirror admiring how the "gown" really compliments my eye color. My hair was straight and my lip gloss was shining in the light. This is it. The night I change. For good. After tonight, there was no turning back. I heard my door open and saw Ryan sitting on the bed.
"You look amazing", he said.
"Well, it is the last time I'll be seeing my fellow classmates. So, why not at least try to look decent", I said.
"Well, we have to go. The car is running". I walked out the room with Ryan behind me and went to the car. I looked in the mirror staring at myself. My pink rosy cheeks, icy blue eyes and warm skin would be gone before the night's over. We drove past my house and Ashlin's. Our houses had no light inside. We arrived at school and three girls were at the door. Once we were close enough to see who they were, it was Madison, Kilie and Amber. Ugh. How did those three airheads graduate? How did they even graduate junior high? Who even let them graduate kindergarten? It doesn't matter now. They're here, and so am I. We walked up the steps and Madison started running her big mouth.
"Well look who we have here. If it isn't Bella and Ryan. How did you get him to come with you? Did you promise him a kiss when we all throw our hats?", she snickered.
"Okay. Fyi Madison, he's my boyfriend. Plus why would why you care. You have Austin just like you wanted", I shot back.
"I know. I'm just surprised that you were able to get a new boyfriend. Like anyone would want to date you", she fired back.
"Whatever Madison. I don't have time for this. Come on Ryan", I said walking into the building.
"Wow. You two must really hate each other".
"Yeah. It's been like that since the third grade. I have no idea what happened between us. We used to be best friends. Now, not so much", I explained. "Do you see my mom anywhere?", I asked.
"Yep. Follow me", he demanded. We went to the back of the gym where my mom was standing talking to one of my teachers. We walked over to her and the teacher excused herself.
"Hi mom", I said.
"Hi sweetie, hi Ryan. You two look adorable".
"Thank you Mrs. Summers ", Ryan said.
"Oh please, call me Angie".
"Attention everybody, attention. I need all the seniors on stage", the principal said.
"Oh mom I need to tell you something. I've been accepted to a college and Ryan and I have been accepted into the same college. Out of state", I said.
"I didn't know you applied for college but I am proud of the both of you", she said hugging us.
"We better get going", Ryan said.
"I love you Bella".
"I love you to mom", I said almost crying. We walked to the stage and the ceremony began.
After the ceremony, we told my mom bye and went out to the car. I looked in the mirror and saw a tear fall down my face. I wiped my eyes and looked out the window.
"You know, you don't have to become a vampire tonight. You have time before I change you".
"No. I'm fine", I said. We pulled in the driveway and climbed out of the car. Ryan pulled out the keys and unlocked the door. I rushed upstairs and closed the door. Surprisingly, Ryan didn't follow me. Taking a look in look in the mirror, I took off my gown and cap and set it on the bed. I put on my pajamas and Ryan came in.
"Are you sure you want to do this?", he asked looking at my eyes.
"I'm sure. Just promise me one thing", I said.
"What's that?", he asked.
"When I come back to life, you will give me the keys to the jeep", I giggled holding his hands.
"Okay. But I'll want them back soon", he warned. I tilted my head back and felt his fangs pierce my neck. Then, seeing nothing but darkness.
