Lorna couldn't lie, life had been rough.
Two years ago, Lorna was brought back to the land of the living after being blipped for five years. She was then trapped in a sitcom version of life where she played the role of daughter in the Maximoff family.
But the family that once existed had now disintegrated from life.
Literally.
While Wanda had offered that she could come to her if she ever felt lonely, Lorna couldn't take her up on her offer.
She wasn't scared of her, god no. She just knew that without Tommy and Billy, seeing Wanda would hurt too much. She was used to not having a mother, but not having brothers anymore had somehow haunted her.
Lorna had been laying low in New York ever since she left Westview. She was now on the radar as a superpowered human and did not have any desire to be found and held accountable for it. So she decided to hide in the city where the streets were always busy, making it almost impossible for anyone to find her.
Unless they had magic of course.
Stephen Strange was speechless which was never a good thing.
He couldn't believe that of all of the billions of people on earth, he went asking for help to the one person who was actively hunting his current ward.
The Scarlet Witch had always been a myth. A monster. A bedtime story young sorcerers heard at night. But now, she was real, and she was Wanda Maximoff.
While the citizens of Westview saw her as their own villain, they had no idea how powerful or dangerous she actually was.
Agatha Harkness was still trapped in her alter ego so she wouldn't be any help in the situation.
But that still left one person who knew what Wanda was capable of.
Lorna Dane.
Lorna had somehow been warped into the Maximoff family but was the only one who got away unscathed. He had kept an eye on her over the years, of course, but never thought that he'd need her help to stop her fake mother.
Well, desperate times call for desperate measures.
She knew someone was there.
As a child, Lorna always hated being looked at. She wasn't sure if it was the childhood trauma or the bright green hair, but she always had a sixth sense for when someone was looking at her.
And right now, someone was.
How someone managed to find her in the busy streets of New York, she had no idea. But she didn't plan to stick around long enough to find out.
Trying to stay as inconspicuous as possible, Lorna slowing began weaving her way through the crowd until she ducked into an alley last minute.
Hiding behind a dumpster, she waited until she thought the coast was clear.
Key word thought.
As she turned around, Lorna jumped at the sight of a man in front of her. But not just a man, no, it was the sorcerer supreme.
Or the old one at least.
"Lorna Dane," the man spoke in front of her. "Nice to finally meet you. I'm-"
"I know who you are," Lorna interrupted. "And whatever you're proposing, I don't want anything to do with it. Go away."
"Why do you think I'm proposing something?"
"Why else would you be here? I've not done anything too criminal to which I need someone to come set me straight, and yet you're actively looking for me. What else am I supposed to think?" Lorna asked, straightening up her green jacket. "Now, if you'll excuse me, back to the shadows I go."
She began to walk back out of the alley before hearing his desperate cry, "It's about Wanda."
Lorna felt herself freeze at the mention of her old mother's name. She hadn't talked to Wanda since Westview and no one had the guts to say her name anymore. It had become a bit of a taboo.
"Whatever trouble she's gotten herself into, I want no part in it," Lorna stated, turning her head towards him the tiniest bit. "I'm just an innocent bystander who got pulled into her drama. I'm not a Maximoff."
"No, you're not. But you're the closest thing I have to one," the sorcerer said, walking towards the young girl. "She's gone off the rails, harder than before, and I have no one else who knows her as well as you do. If she won't listen to me, maybe she'll listen to her daughter."
"I'm not her daughter."
"Maybe not, but you were once. She cares about you, even if it is out of guilt. Maybe her love for you can save her from the darkness."
Love, what a funny concept. If you'd asked Lorane if she loved her mother, she probably would've paused at the question. Even though she knew deep down that things weren't right, she probably would've said yes anyways because she wanted a family so badly.
But that family wasn't real, but this darkness was. Lorna owed it to Vision and the twins to try and save Wanda, even if it was from herself.
Turning to face the man, Lorna crossed her arms.
"I'm not doing this for you, sorcerer," she spat, trying to keep her face neutral. "I'm doing this for those she lost. I owe it to them."
The man didn't reply to her clear distaste as he opened a portal behind her head.
"While that may be true, I'm still glad you're helping Ms. Dane."
"Lorna," she interrupted. "The name's just Lorna."
"I'm Stephen," the man introduced. "Dr. Stephen Strange."
