Ashanti had to rethink her plan.

Sure, her plan was fool proof and might actually result in every one of her new companions keeping their lives, but she hadn't realized the emotional turmoil she'd put herself, and more importantly, Shang in.

But what else could she do? Could she abandon her entire plan and focus on something more productive, more healthy, more...simple? Of course not. She was the tigress because she was ruthless. She scared immortals and could make the most vicious of beasts whimper. She could handle the emotional turmoil. She was strong. She was reckless.

But somehow, being true to herself wasn't going to keep Shang happy. Shang would be angry with her, just like he was earlier today. He'd look at her like she was the source of all his pain. So Ashanti has to change her ways.

Just a bit. Just enough to keep Shang happy. She could curve her homicidal ways enough to make sure that when all is said and done, she'll still have Shang.

Even though she doesn't have him now. But one day she will. Maybe. If he felt the same.

Maybe one day she will.

____________________

Greg, Alice, Shang, and Ashanti all stood in Greg's living room crying. Tears of joy were falling from all of their eyes, and Ashanti knew she had made the right call. Relief spread through them all, but not as much as it spread through Ashanti as she saw Shang's visible relief. She didn't know what had happened between he and he who shall not be named, but she was fine with that.

She was certain she'd be filled with a rage she's never known.

Ashanti decided to take a break from overly intense emotions, for now anyway.

Ashanti had her own problems to deal with. Her immortality was one. Now that she is lucid, somewhat, Ashanti realized that she abandoned her own pack.

Shang helped her see it. In the week that they'd returned from the hot dog stand, Shang told Ashanti tons about his early life. When he made his first vampire he helped the guy through the transformation and taught him everything he knew. Shang hadn't figured out how to turn anyone for two thousand years, so he had to watch as his immortality kept him away from those he loved, those he wanted to love, who he wanted to know. So he clang to the first immortal being he could.

Ashanti didn't have that. It took her about three thousand years to figure out how to turn others into shifters. The first few hundred died. Only some could take the change, and eventually Ashanti found out that it was a gene, so when her victims changed, so did their DNA, thus so did their children's.

Ashanti had just left those she changed. At the time she wasn't in her right mind, but that didn't matter. Even if she was in her right mind, she wouldn't have taken care of those people like Shang had took care of his. Ashanti was a solitary creature. She loved being alone and she loved freedom. She wouldn't be able to have either even if she had stayed.

But Ashanti is going to get her life together. She is going to stabilize herself, and Shang will like her more. Shang is stable. Shang seems like he likes the stable ones.

So that's what she will become.
