wednesday, thing, and orpheus stood outside xavier's art shed. wednesday and orpheus had filled thing in on the scratches that now resided on xavier's neck. wednesday had been very skeptical about it and insisted on looking further into it, despite orpheus' arguments on the matter.

they watched as xavier walked out of the shed, immediately turning to close it behind him before beginning to walk away from it, unaware of the eyes watching him.

"we need to do this." wednesday said, turning to look at orpheus, who stood beside her silently. at his silence, wednesday continued, "xavier didn't get those scratches from fencing. he's hiding something" she added, bringing up xavier's bad excuse for the wounds.

thing slowly crawled off her shoulder, making his own descent onto the shed, wednesday following after him. she only spared orpheus one glance before he followed after them reluctantly. he wasn't too keen on breaking into an art shed over some dumb scratches.

as soon as the trio walked in wednesday turned a light on, which revealed to orpheus every canvas that littered the shed. each one had an image on it, not one was left untouched.

the one that caught their attention was the biggest one, the one that looked the newest out of them all. there was multiple paintings and drawings of the same thing, the same ugly beast.

"i suppose every artist needs a muse" wednesday commented, fixing the strap of her backpack as orpheus ran his fingers over the papers. big bulging eyes stared back at him, sharp teeth bared.

"xavier, you just became that much more interesting" the girl added, holding two pieces of paper in her hands as orpheus continued to move around the room, not paying much mind to his sister.

"let's go" wednesday said, pocketing the papers as she turned the light back off. she was quick to walk out, leaving a still gaping orpheus behind. he huffed in annoyance as she left him behind in the dark but he didn't mind much, instead beginning to follow her lead.

as soon as he walked out, he noticed that she was already gone, so he began to head back the way they came from, knowing she would be there. speed walking, orpheus didn't hear the approaching steps of xavier until it was too late.

"orpheus!" the long haired boy called, halting orpheus in his steps. he turned to the boy, giving him a nod in greeting, "xavier, hello" he said, watching as the taller walked up to him.

"what are you doing?" xavier questioned, looking around in confusion as to why orpheus would be there, "nothing" the boy said, eyes darting around in search of wednesday. "i just saw you come out this way, what is this place?" he questioned, watching as xavier got slightly nervous.

"it's kind of my private art studio. i cleared it out, fixed it up, so weems lets me use it" he shifted nervously, a small smirk pulling at orpheus' lips. "how very entrepreneurial. i would love to see inside, why don't you give me a tour?" the boy asked, watching as nervousness immediately washed over xavier.

"not right now, it's a total mess" the boy denied, shaking his head. "wednesday and i shadowed a crime scene photographer last summer, i'm not easily fazed."

"maybe another time" he dismissed, before getting back on track, "why were you looking for me?" he questioned, the confusion clear on his face.

"i wanted to go over ms. thornhill's homework assignment" orpheus lied, the lie spilling out his lips effortlessly. "she didn't give us homework" xavier deadpanned, "remember?" he looked slightly confused, orpheus' eyes widening for a second as he remembered.

"why are you really out here?" the boy then asked, knowing he had caught orpheus in a lie. "is this about a certain dance that makes you want to poke needles into you eyes, perhaps?" he asked, leaning his body down to be closer to orpheus' level.

orpheus was left speechless at his assumption, mouth sightly agape as he stared up at a smiling xavier, "i'm all ears" he said, grin so big that orpheus wasn't sure what to do.

'do it' came wednesday's voice, so sudden that he nearly got scared. 'no.' he thought back, trying to think of a way to get out of this. 'trust me.' she added, and these words were all orpheus needed to sigh in agreement.

"are you really going to make me ask?" orpheus winced as xavier's grin got bigger. "oh, absolutely" he said, before the two were engulfed by an awkward silence.

orpheus tried to work up the courage he needed, looking anywhere but inro xavier's eyes. "don't look so smug" he muttered bitterly, scoffing as xavier's smile only frew bigger. "i'm waiting" the boy said, putting his hands in the pockets of his jacket.

"would you..." orpheus began, looking up at xavier before stopping himself and trying again. "would you possibly consider going to the rave'n dance with a certain..." once again he stopped, looking up at the taller boy, who now looked at him in slight confusion.

"would you go to the dance with me?" he finally asked, after moments of stumbling over his words. almost immediately, xavier chuckled "yes, orpheus, i would love to go to the dance with you" he said, before adding, "i thought you'd never ask" he finished, smiling as orpheus turned around.

"neither did i" he muttered to himself, done with the embarrassing conversation as he began to walk away, leaving behind a happy xavier. 'i hate you so much' he thought to wednesday, a deep glare on his face. 'meet me in my room' she replied back, ignoring his words.
