The street lamp posts came into view, and Kiyoko turned right. You followed her, not knowing where this road led despite having lived here for so long. She turned down a small alleyway, and at this point you were quite suspicious of where you two were headed.

"Nice alleyway..." sarcasm dripping from your voice.

--

The itch throughout your body became apparent, and your senses sharpened, taking in every detail and slight movement around you. The adrenaline had its effects setting in. It's not that you didn't trust Kiyoko, because Suga probably wouldn't let anything bad happen. But at the same time you started to question just how much you trusted these people, and what they could do to you.

"Oh, don't worry. We are almost at the ramen restaurant. I can see it from here," she responded, her tone lighthearted.

The end of the alley came into view, and the two 5-story buildings on either side of you changed into pure sky and fresh (non-garbage smelling) air. Once out of the alley, the ramen place was the entire first floor of the building on the left. Your mouth formed the shape of an 'o' as the adrenaline slowly dispersed.

Kiyoko chuckled slightly at your expression as she opened the restaurant door, a bell ringing as the door opened.

Glancing down at your phone, it truly had been 7 minutes since you left school grounds.

Kiyoko waved politely at the waitress as she sat down in a corner booth, you following slightly behind as you took a seat in front of her.

"Have you eaten here before?" Kiyo asked.

You shook your head in response, your focus slightly scattered as you were still coming off the effects of adrenaline.

The waitress saved both of you the awkwardness as she walked up and asked what you would like to eat.

Kiyoko ordered #3 on the menu, and not knowing what was what since you were used to sandwiches and instant ramen, you just ordered the same as her. The waitress put her notepad away while smiling, and said that the food would be here soon.

"So (L/N), any reason why you chose Karasuno over the other schools?" Kiyoko asked, most likely trying to get to know you.

"No reason in particular, kinda just happened with how close it is to where I live" you responded, trying to keep the conversation going.

"Aah that makes sense" she responded.

You appreciated the effort, and honestly, you couldn't deny that you could use some friends so decided she was worth the shot.

Your demeanour slowly grew warmer as you lowered your protective shield just a little, and Kiyoko noticed, smiling softly as she was happy you were more comfortable around her.

The food arrived at the table a second later, and Kiyoko happily dug in. You looked around nervously, not being very comfortable eating in public. It was one of the main reasons you never ate. It wasn't about the food itself, it was simply the utter discomfort of eating while other people were around.

Kiyoko being the observant person she is, noticed.

"We can go somewhere else if you'd like? My house is pretty close."

You visibly relaxed at her words, not realizing how tense you had gotten, and after confirming it was truly okay with her you nodded gratefully at the offer.

--

Kiyoko slid her keys into the door and turned them to the left, before pushing the door open. The both of you removed your shoes before you followed her into the kitchen.

The cold of the marble floors seeped through your socks as you took in the surroundings. Her house was incredibly welcoming. Everything was neat and tidy, but there was something about the pictures on the walls, or the couch that managed to look both new and loved at the same time, or maybe it was a gentle aroma of warm cinnamon and honey, but her home was the epitome of inviting. The whole vibe just fit Kiyoko so well. You both placed the food on the kitchen island and pulled out bar stools to sit on.

You took a bite, already feeling much more comfortable as she giggled and started eating her own food.

Then suddenly she put her bowl down and looked you dead in the eye.

"Okay. Kageyama and Hinata are so in love with each other it's so obvious to anyone but them, I ship them SO hard." she burst out.

Your eyes widened, a ton of thoughts rolling through your head, with confusion and surprise lightly displayed on your face. Then suddenly you burst out laughing. It was such a contagious laughter even Kiyoko had to break her serious stature and laugh along with you.

"That was-..... tHe most-......... un-yOu thing you have eVer said" you gasped out. "And I wholeheartedly agree."

At your answer, Kiyoko could only laugh harder as the two of you spent a good five minutes simply trying to calm down from that.

"Okay but seriously they are so cute with each other, we need to get them together," you said, managing to keep a semi-straight face.

"Oh my goodness yessss we have to," Kiyoko replied with stars in her eyes as she took another bite.

"On the topic of ships...... you and Tsukishima?" she raised an eyebrow, a small teasing smirk adorning her lips as she once again placed her bowl down.

"Aghhhh nooooo" you dragged out the O sound as your hands flew to cover your face, already blushing prominently.

She giggled at your reaction.

"It's okayyyy you guys are adorable together, plus you seem to be the only one that can pull him out of his saltiness"

"We're talking about boys now hm? What about you and Tanaka~ he seems to be utterly in love with you, it's actually kind of sweet" you responded, wanting to tease her back.

Now it was her turn to blush, and the way she turned her gaze away from you slightly while fidgeting was a dead giveaway.

"Oh my god no way- you like him- AH THAT'S TOO CUTE!!" you said, doing a little excited wiggle in your seat.

All she could do was blush further while trying to quiet your noise levels as Tanaka just happened to live next door.

"Okay finish your food missy, we have class soon," Kiyoko said, rolling her eyes jokingly.

"Okay okayyy"

The rest of lunch you two spent together, bonding and enjoying each other's company. Afterwards going back to class and finishing up school work.

The bell finally rang signaling the end of the school day, and your stomach was flooded with nervous butterflies. This was your first official volleyball match in years, and that thought alone made you want to go home while simultaneously making your legs itch to sprint to the gym. It was confusing...

You walked down the now familiar halls, trying to avoid the thoughts of going home as much as possible. The exterior change room doors seemed like a safer idea than passing through the gym where everyone would be, so you opened the door and stepped inside, changing into your volleyball gear.

You had black knee pads, black spandex shorts, and an oversized orange t-shirt showing you were playing libero. You checked your appearance one last time in the mirror, slightly fixing your waist-length hair before stepping out of the changing room – only to bump right into Tsukishima's back...
