Mairwen stood in the grand hallway, heart racing as she shared the news with her mother, Ariah. “Mom, Max is coming to the Philippines to visit me,” she said, excitement bubbling in her voice.

Ariah raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Max? The one studying in the U.S.?”

“Yes! She’s been really supportive, and now she wants to visit for a few weeks,” Mairwen explained, her eyes shining. “It’s a big deal for us.”

Ariah smiled gently. “That’s wonderful, but how do you feel about her coming here?”

Mairwen took a breath, her heart full. “I’m so happy! I want you to meet her and see how special she is.”

Ariah nodded, sensing the depth of Mairwen’s feelings. “Let’s make sure she feels welcomed. This is a big step for both of you.”

Mairwen felt a rush of gratitude, knowing her mom’s support would mean everything as she prepared for Max's arrival.

Ariah gathered Mairwen in the living room, a smile on her face. “I have an idea. Why don’t we invite Max to our family dinner when she arrives? It would be a great way for everyone to meet her.”

Mairwen’s eyes lit up. “Really Mom? That would be amazing! I want her to feel at home.”

Ariah nodded. “Let’s make it special. I’ll prepare some of your favorite dishes, and we can show her our traditions.”

Mairwen felt a wave of excitement. “Thank you, Mom! This means so much to me. I can’t wait for her to experience our family!”

Ariah chuckled. “Just remember to give me a heads-up about any questions she might have. I want to make a good impression.”

“Of course!” Mairwen replied, her heart swelling with joy at the thought of Max being part of their family gathering.

                       -TIME SKIP-

During the family dinner, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Ariah sat next to her wife, Mac, while their daughter Iyah chatted across the table with Mairwen and Max, who had been together for four years.

Ariah looked at Maxiel, a welcoming smile on her face. “It’s great to finally meet you, Max. Mairwen has told us so much about you.”

Max returned the smile, a hint of shyness in her voice. “It’s really nice to be here. I’ve heard a lot about your family, too.”

Iyah chimed in, “Four years is a long time! How do you guys keep it exciting?”

Mairwen squeezed Max's hand under the table, her heart full. “We just love exploring new things together. There’s always something to discover.”

Mac raised her glass, a twinkle in her eye. “Here’s to love and the adventures that come with it.” Everyone joined in, the laughter and warmth enveloping them, solidifying the bonds of family and love in that moment.

As the family dinner continued, Ariah leaned in, curiosity in her eyes. “So, Max, what’s been your favorite part of your relationship with Mairwen over the years?”

Max smiled, glancing at Mairwen. “I love how we can always be ourselves with each other. It feels like we’ve grown up together.”

Mairwen nodded, her cheeks flushed with pride. “We’ve faced a lot, but it’s made us stronger.”

Iyah chimed in, “Do you have any funny stories from your time together?”

Mairwen laughed, recalling a memory. “Oh, remember the time we tried cooking together and almost burned the kitchen down?”

Max chuckled, shaking her head. “I think we ordered takeout that night!”

The table erupted in laughter, and Ariah exchanged a knowing glance with Mac. “It sounds like you two have quite the adventures. We’d love to hear more.”

Mac added, “Family dinners are a great way to share stories and build memories. We’re glad you’re part of it now, Max.”

As the meal went on, Mairwen felt a deep sense of belonging, her heart swelling with happiness as her family embraced Max with open arms. It was a night she knew would be etched in their memories forever.

Mairwen and Max sat side by side at the long dining table, the noise of the family dinner swirling around them. As they shared a plate of food, Mairwen leaned in closer. “I’m so glad you’re here,” she whispered, her eyes sparkling.

Max smiled, brushing her fingers against Mairwen's. “Me too. It’s nice to finally see your world.”

Mairwen glanced around the table, watching her family engage with each other. “They really like you. It means a lot to me.”

Max chuckled softly. “I like them too. Your sister is hilarious!”

Mairwen felt a rush of warmth. “You have no idea how much I’ve missed this being with you here, in my home.”

Max nodded, her gaze serious. “Four years feels like a journey. I want to keep building memories with you, no matter where we are.”

Mairwen squeezed Max’s hand. “We will. This is just the beginning.”

As laughter erupted nearby, they shared a quiet moment, their connection deepening amidst the chaos of family life.
