The sun shone directly on my face, casting a warm glow that felt both comforting and suffocating. I can't breathe. Elise, my lady-in-waiting, was bustling around me, adjusting the delicate fabric of my gown. Today was the day Prince Julian would finally arrive, and I was a bundle of nerves.

"Princess Isadora, you look stunning," Elise said, trying to reassure me. I could tell by the tremor in her voice that she sensed my anxiety.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "I guess you can see that I'm nervous."

"Of course, but there's no need to be. You'll do great!" She smiled, but I could see the concern in her eyes. Ever since I had met Gabriel, the cracks in my composure had become more apparent. People noticed. They could see the confusion swirling within me, and honestly, it felt like too much to bear.

Was meeting Gabriel truly a good thing? Or a bad thing? I didn't know anymore.

Anyways, today is supposed to be about Prince Julian, the man I was destined to marry, and my responsibility as the princess of Clovendale. But why do I feel like this is the wrong path for me?

"Elise," I began, my voice trembling, "what happens if I can't love Prince Julian? What if I can't be happy?"

Elise paused, her expression softening. She looked at me, and I could tell she felt the weight of my worries. "I—I don't know, Your Majesty."

"Don't feel horrible for me, Elise. Just... don't." My heart raced as I struggled to push aside the doubts creeping in. "Please."

"You look stunning, Your Majesty," she said again, her voice steadier this time.

"Thank you, Elise." I forced a smile, but it felt fragile, like a delicate glass waiting to shatter.

As the minutes ticked by, anticipation hung heavy in the air. Today would change everything. I just hoped I was ready for it.
