(ISADORA'S POV)

As we rode deeper into the forest, the atmosphere grew heavier with tension. Kira glanced back at Julian and me, her expression serious. "Be quiet," she urged, her voice barely above a whisper. "We want to reach the Elder without attracting attention. If anyone sees us, they might misunderstand our intentions."

I nodded, but my heart raced. Just as we rounded a bend, a group of armed tribespeople emerged from the underbrush, their faces fierce and unyielding.

"Intruder! Trespasser!" they shouted, their voices echoing in the thick silence.

Before we could react, they struck. I felt a sharp pain as a blow landed on my head, and darkness enveloped me.

Disorientaion washed over me. I blinked against the harsh light filtering through the slats of a wooden structure. My surroundings slowly came into focus: I was in a cage with Julian and Gabriel, Kira in the center, looking frantic as the tribespeople surrounded us in a circle.

"What happened?" I murmured, my voice hoarse.

Kira rushed to the bars of her cage, her eyes wide with fear. "They ambushed us as soon as we entered their territory. I'm so sorry!" Her voice full of guilt.

The tribespeople began arguing among themselves, their voices rising in anger. "What should we do with them?" one shouted. "They could be spies!"

"Let's end this now! They don't belong here!" another cried, brandishing a weapon.

"Hold your tongues!" an older tribesman barked. "We need to assess the situation first."

Suddenly, a guard stepped forward and struck me across the face. I cried out in shock, the pain coursing through me. Julian's eyes flared with fury. "Do not touch her! Do not touch any of my people!" He gripped the bars of his cage, his face a mask of determination. "We are from the Kingdom of Clovendale. We seek your help! There is a kingdom, The Kingdom of thorns that seeks no peace. They are here to destroy us all!"

The Elder, standing on a raised platform, raised an eyebrow. "And why should we help you?"

"We need your refuge!" Julian continued, his voice steady despite the chaos around us. "The only thing that can save us is the First Sword—the only weapon powerful enough to defeat the darkness that threatens us!"

The crowd fell silent for a moment, their expressions shifting between skepticism and curiosity.

"Do you think we care about your kingdom?" one of the guards sneered, stepping closer. "You have trespassed on sacred ground!"

"Enough!" the Elder commanded, silencing the dissent. "Bring them to the Sacred Waters. We shall see if they speak the truth."

With that, the guards dragged us from our cages, and we were led through a narrow path shrouded by lush greenery. As we walked, the sound of trickling water filled the air, mingling with the soft rustle of leaves.

Finally, we arrived at a serene pond, illuminated by the soft glow of fireflies flitting above lily pads floating on the surface. The air shimmered with an ethereal light, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

"This is the Sacred Waters," the Elder declared, gesturing toward the pond. "Once you enter, the waters will compel you to speak only the truth. If you are deceiving us, it will be revealed."

Kira stepped forward, her eyes wide with awe. "It's beautiful," she whispered, mesmerized by the magical glow.

The Elder motioned for us to step into the water. We hesitated, exchanging nervous glances before Julian stepped in first, followed by Kira, Gabriel, and then me. The water enveloped us, sending a refreshing chill through my body.

As we emerged, I felt a strange clarity wash over me, as if every thought was stripped bare.

So who do I really love, Gabriel or Julian?

The Elder stood at the edge, watching us intently. "Now, tell me again: why have you come to our land?"

Julian squared his shoulders, his voice steady. "We seek your help. The kingdom of Thorns is intent on destroying us. The only way to stop them is to find the First Sword, which is said to be hidden here."

"Is that the truth?" the Elder asked, her piercing gaze unwavering.

"It is," Julian replied firmly, the sincerity in his voice ringing true. "We are desperate. We will do whatever it takes to protect our home."

The Elder nodded, studying us for a long moment. "You understand the stakes, then? What you seek is not easily obtained. The sword belongs to the true heir of the Kingdom of Light. But first, you must prove your intentions."

Kira spoke up, her voice trembling slightly. "They mean no harm. The girl tells me they only wish to restore peace. The darkness threatens all of us, and if we do not stand together, we will all fall."

The Elder considered her words carefully, then sighed, her expression softening. "Very well. I will grant you a chance to earn our trust, but understand this: if you fail, the consequences will be dire."

As we stepped out of the Sacred Waters, I felt a mix of relief and anxiety. Our journey was far from over, but for the first time, I sensed the possibility of hope flickering in the distance.
