The evening light wrapped around them as Gabriel stood before Isadora, his heart heavy but his resolve firm. He took her hand, holding it tightly, as if afraid she might slip away."Listen, I can give you a good life in the Kingdom of Light," he said, his voice a mix of sincerity and playful charm. "Think about it—no more royal etiquette lessons, just endless adventures and... well, me. How could you resist?"
Isadora smiled softly, her heart fluttering at his words. But as she slowly pulled her hand from his grasp, the reality of their situation hit her like a wave.
"I hope we can still be good allies. The Kingdom of Clovendale is a friend to the Kingdom of Light. You're invited to my wedding, and I genuinely hope to see you there."
Gabriel's expression turned mockingly dramatic. "Oh, of course! Why would I want to miss the chance to watch the girl I love marry someone who's probably the dullest person in existence? What fun is that?"
Isadora chuckled, the lightness in the air easing the tension.
"Yeah, yeah, but who's going to keep the royal festivities interesting? Without me, it'll just be a sea of boring speeches and stuffy dances," he quipped, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "But really, I've promised everyone back home that I'd return. I'm packing up and heading back to my kingdom."
"Wait—so is it Prince Gabriel or King Gabriel now? I'm so confused," Isadora teased, raising an eyebrow playfully.
Gabriel feigned a thoughtful look, tapping his chin. "Ah, I don't even know myself! I guess I'll just stick with Prince for now. It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
Isadora laughed, a warmth spreading in her chest.
He grinned, trying to lighten the mood, but the bittersweet weight of their parting lingered in the air. "I'll see you again Isa," Gabriel says.
With a reluctant sigh, Gabriel turned to walk back toward the castle, a sense of loss settling over him. He couldn't shake the feeling that life without Isadora's laughter would be a little less bright.
