Brezzy felt her heart shatter as she listened to Carson sever their friendship. The weight of his words plunged her into a whirlwind of disbelief and anguish, leaving her reeling in a haze of emotions she couldn't quite grasp. It was as if the ground had fallen away beneath her feet, and she was left adrift in the tumultuous sea of her thoughts, unable to fathom a world without him in it, As she stood there, the echo of Carson's final words reverberating through her mind, Brezzy felt an insatiable ache blossom within her. She had known for a long time that her feelings for Carson surpassed mere friendship, but... hearing him walk away felt like a storm tearing through her heart.
Brezzy was head over heels for Carson, but right now, the thought of losing their friendship was unbearable. She quickly pivoted and reached out, catching him by the wrists before he could walk away. Carson stopped, turning back to her with a mix of annoyance and sadness etched across his face.
"Carson, please don't walk away," Brezzy said, her voice quivering with urgency. "I can't lose you". I promise I won't get involved with Blyana anymore. Just... don't end our friendship."
Carson sighed heavily, torn between his feelings and the weight of their three-year friendship. "Brezzy, what you did was hideous. I need to stick to my decision. Things can't go back to how they were."
A knot formed in her stomach. "I am sorry, but I value what we have. I'll work on my friendship with Blyana; I will make it better. Can't we at least stay friends? I don't want our friendship to end."
He hesitated, looking into her eyes, which were pleading. "I can acknowledge you as a friend, but I can't say things will be the same," he finally said, his voice softer yet firm.
Brezzy nodded, desperation still lingering in her heart. "That's all I need for now. I won't get involved with Blyana anymore, and I'll do my best to treat her well. I just... I want you in my life."
Carson looked at her for a moment, as if he was finding a hope of sincerity in her words before slowly turning away. The tension hung in the air, and as he walked off, Brezzy felt both a flicker of hope and an ache of uncertainty.
As Carson walked away, Brezzy felt an intense anger boiling over in her chest. She was furious at Blyana for seemingly taking Carson away from her, and the thought of it made her blood rush. But instead of confronting Blyana outright, Brezzy decided to take a more cunning approach.
After overhearing Carson and Brezzy's conversation, Blyana felt a wave of relief wash over her. It was clear that Carson didn't trust Brezzy anymore, and for a moment, she felt hopeful. But her thoughts were abruptly interrupted when she spotted Carson walking toward her. In a panic, she turned and ran, desperate to find a place to hide.
She dashed through a door, hoping to escape, only to realize she had stumbled into the boys' locker room instead of the girls'. Heart racing, she leaned against the door, thinking she could just wait it out until he left. But then she heard footsteps approaching, and her stomach dropped.
Frantically, she looked around and spotted an empty locker. Without thinking, she slipped inside, pulling the door closed just in time. She held her breath, praying he wouldn't find her. What if he opened her locker? The thought sent a shiver down her spine.
Blyana listened intently as Carson entered the locker room. She could hear him moving around, and panic surged through her. She gripped the edges of the locker door tightly, trying to steady her racing heart. To her relief, he opened the locker next to hers, not hers.
Peeking through the small ventilation holes, she caught sight of Carson as he began to change. Her breath hitched in her throat as she saw him shirtless, the muscles in his back defined and glistening slightly under the fluorescent lights. In that moment, she forgot her fear and felt a rush of admiration. He looked incredibly handsome, and she couldn't help but feel a flutter of attraction, even in such an awkward situation.
Blyana shook her head, trying to focus. This was not the time to be distracted by how attractive he looked. She needed to wait until he left so she could slip out without being noticed. But as she watched him, her heart raced for reasons she hadn't anticipated, caught in a moment that was both thrilling and terrifying.
After Carson finished changing, he headed toward the shower room, and Blyana saw her chance to slip out of the locker room. She waited, hoping he would be in the middle of his shower, and quietly opened her locker door. As she tiptoed toward the exit, her heart raced. Just as she reached the door, she caught sight of Brezzy walking out of the basketball court. Panic surged through her—she couldn't let Brezzy find her here.
Blyana quickly closed the door again, holding her breath as she waited for Brezzy to leave. But then she heard the sound of water running, and her heart sank. Carson was done with his shower and likely coming back to change. In a rush, she darted back to the open locker, quickly shutting herself inside.
Peeking through the ventilation holes, she held her breath as she caught a glimpse of Carson emerging from the shower, a towel wrapped around his torso. His hair was damp, droplets of water glistening on his skin. He looked incredibly handsome, and for a moment, she forgot everything else.
Blyana couldn't help but admire him, her heart swelling with affection. All the feelings she had for him came rushing back, overwhelming her. She thought about how wonderful he was, how kind and funny, and how much she liked him. But then a wave of sadness washed over her. The reality of their situation hit her hard—she felt a deep ache at the thought that she might never truly have him.
As she watched him, a mix of longing and despair filled her. She wished things were different, that she could be the one standing beside him, but the fear of losing him to someone like Brezzy loomed large in her mind. Blyana closed her eyes for a moment, trying to steady her emotions, knowing she had to wait for him to leave before she could safely escape.
