Jisoo
"You look awful," Heejin says as she sits in the chair next to me while we wait for our scene to be filmed.
"I know, I haven't been sleeping well," I sigh and take a sip of water.
"Anxiety about your first drama?"
"I wish," I breathe deeply and rub my temples. "Remember the day of the script reading?"
"Yeah, when you looked like you were about to have a meltdown and everyone thought it was because you were the lead," she chuckles, making me smile slightly.
"I wasn't nervous because of the work, I was nervous because I wanted it to end quickly."
"Why?" She looks at me with pity in her eyes.
"My girlfriend was leaving for Paris that day, and even though I left before the reading finished, I couldn't get there in time, and now I don't know where we stand." I let out a heavy sigh.
"Was she really upset?" Heejin puts a comforting hand on my shoulder and squeezes gently.
"Yes, but she's been acting distant. The schedules are messed up because of filming, and that's why I don't know anything anymore." I take a deep breath. "We can't talk much, and I can't blame her. She's adjusting to a new routine and experiencing new things."
"You seem desperate, but I get that it's a delicate situation," she sighs next to me, looking thoughtful. "Have you tried calling her?"
"No, I don't know her schedule, and she doesn't reply quickly," I pout.
"Sometimes you need to surprise her, do something unexpected, I don't know." She stands up and stretches. "It's really cold, I'm going to get some tea to warm up. We have some time before our scene." I nod, thinking about what she just said.
I get up from my chair and pace back and forth for a few seconds before deciding to video call Jennie. On the third ring, she answers, looking both confused and surprised.
"Jisoo? Did something happen?" She blinks a few times.
"Yes, something happened." I bite my lip as I look at her. Jennie has always been beautiful, but now she seems even more beautiful than before. My heart tightens with longing.
"What? Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" The worried tone in her voice makes my heart race faster.
"I miss you, I miss you so much." I pout, and Jennie tries to suppress a small smile, looking relieved for a moment.
"I thought something serious had happened," she shakes her head in disbelief.
"Missing you is very serious to me because my heart feels so small it might disappear from my chest," I say seriously. "I'm sorry I didn't make it to the airport in time last week. I ran as fast as I could, but by the time I got there, you were already gone." I watch her turn her head and sigh before looking back at me.
"It's not your fault, you said you'd try to make it on time." The hurt look in her eyes tells me she's still upset.
"I know, but I want to apologize anyway," I shrug. "I wanted to give you a hug before you went through that cursed gate." I roll my eyes. "I even thought about running and shouting like in the movies, but I was afraid I'd get arrested." I pout again, and that gets a laugh out of Jennie.
"Idiot, I would've killed you if you did something like that. It's not worth getting arrested for," she says with that goofy smile on her face, and that alone makes everything worth it.
"For you, Jennie Kim, everything is worth it," I wink at her, and she blushes slightly. "What are you doing?"
"I'm on my way back to my apartment. They let me go early because I told them I still had some boxes to unpack. Want me to turn the camera around so I can show you what it's like here?"
"No, I want to see you," I give her my most confident smile. "When I'm there, you can show me the city."
"My parents told me they're coming to visit next week," she pouts. "It still feels strange having them so close to me and wanting to be part of my life."
"I'm happy they realized how valuable you are and are trying to earn a place in your life," I say, gazing at her and letting out a sigh. "You look even more beautiful than before."
"Stop making me blush," she rolls her eyes. "Do you know when you'll be able to visit?"
"Not yet, but I've heard rumors that we might have a break for one or two weeks. I'm just waiting for the director to confirm so I can book the tickets." Her eyes light up at my words.
"Are you serious?" Jennie blinks several times as if she can't believe what I just said.
"Yes, I am. I just need him to confirm the length of the break so I can plan," I shrug, and her smile grows huge.
"Can I dream about this, Chu?" She whispers, and I nod. "I'll dream about that day."
"Sooya, time for us to film," Heejin says, appearing with a cup of tea.
"Jen, I have to go," I pout. "Hey, this is Heejin, one of my drama friends. Heejin, this is my girlfriend, Jennie Kim."
"Hi, Jennie, it's a pleasure to see the person responsible for Sooya's moods," Heejin giggles, making me embarrassed, while Jennie looks a little suspicious. "We better go before the director gets mad at us."
"Bye, Jen. Good luck unpacking your boxes. I love you!" I blow her a kiss, and she flashes that adorable gummy smile that makes me fall even more in love.
"I love you, Chu, have a great shoot." I watch her until Jennie ends the call, and I sigh.
Faith and communication. That's what I need to make everything work with Jennie until she comes back to me.
