paige's pov
we had gotten our seats at the first row, meaning we could see the game clearly without any heads blocking.

mya was sat between me and haylie, my arm around her shoulders as she continued talking to her. sometimes i think she had forgotten i was still here.

nevertheless, i enjoyed just being with mya whenever, wherever.

there was about 5 minutes left until the game started, the players were already doing their warm ups and pep talks. i could see mya's brother being the leader of the team, talking and giving directions. maybe i should learn from him.

the game started not too long later, mya leant her head on my shoulders whilst watching.

her brother had scored twice, being the center and his team won 6-3. i could tell mya was insanely proud of her brother. and everytime her brother had scored, she would turn to me and then squeal excitedly saying "paige! paige! did you see that goal! it was amazing!"

i nodded, kissing her forehead and agreeing with her, not just because i wanted to, but because the goals her brother had scored were really amazing.

the game ended and he was pulled away for an interview, the cameras in the rink now on him.

the interviewer introduced herself and spoke, "so mr matthew parker, how does it feel scoring two goals in your first game as captain?"

the interviewer then pointed the microphone to him as he started talking. "i think it was really amazing and breathtaking. i mean, my main goal as captain is to lead this team to great things and achievements, and i want my boys to give it their all and their best shot." he continued, "ive taken up this responsibility as captain because i know my coach and teammates are entrusting this position to me due to my leadership qualities, and my commitment for this team to win. yeah, there may be hardships that we may face along the way, but nevertheless, and the end of the day, we're all a team, we stick together, and play together as one."

she smiled and nodded to his answer, before asking another question, "what do you think you can achieve as the captain for ice hockey?"

he held the mic in his hands, making the mic look quite small, but he probably was just big. "i don't think, i know that i can achieve great things from this opportunity. you may think im talking about trophies, awards, and recognition, but no, what i want to achieve is that i am able to make my friends and families proud of me, having my future career set, and most importantly, i want to see the bright face on my little dimple's face, mya. she's gone through a lot, and so have i, but i want to show her that there's still light ahead, and you can achieve great things in life. mya may be younger than me, but regardless, i still look up to her. she's smart, intelligent, and caring, from a brother's point of view. she does her best and gives her all in her academics, and she tries to spend as much time with me as she can when she notices i'm feeling down or upset." he then turns on his skates to face where mya, haylie, and i were sitting then continuing, "i never got the courage to admit this to her, to show how much of a role model she is to me, and how she's the best sister i could ever ask for. she kept pushing me in both my academics and athletics, which is how i managed to get a 3.9 gpa, and becoming a captain." he stops, realising how much he is ranting about mya right now, but i found it touching, and mya definitely felt it too.

the interviewer then spoke back into the mic. "wow. that's truly a wonderul speech. once again, congratulations on your first game win and goals as the captain of the ice hockey team. i wont hold you back any longer now."

he smiles and shakes her hand, speaking into the mic once more. "mya, i love you dimples. paige, haylie, please look after her, she's precious and special to me."

the crowd 'awed' at that request as me and haylie smiled, nodding at him.

he soon then left, followed by the audience. mya was still speechless and processing her brother's speech, but i could tell she was appreciative of him.

i wanted to tell matthew how id even conquer the world just to see her smile, or be seen as one of the most adorable and perfect person in the world. she's definitely special and precious matthew, i'll have to agree with you on that fact.

author's note
