22nd July

Mya's POV
"C'mon Mya! Open the email!" Haylie urged, referring to the email I had sent to the UCONN Women's Basketball Team a week ago.

"What if I don't get in?" I questioned, worried about the outcome.

"Ay dios mio! (Oh my god) Are you hearing yourself right now?" She paused. "You've been top of Sports Science since college, even high school maybe, there's no way in hell they're not gonna accept you. You'll be the best physio they have there, trust me. I know it." She finished.

"But-" She cut me off. "No buts, you're going to open that email right now, or I'll do it. And you know I will." She threatened.

"Ugh- Fine." I gave in, my hand directing the mouse to the email title, hovering over it.

I could feel Hailey's eyes staring right at me, as she scoffed and then muttered, "Oh mis días, esta chica de verdad..." (Oh my days, this girl really...)

After mustering my courage, I finally clicked on it.

Dear Mya Ellie Parker,

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for applying to the UCONN Women's Basketball team as a Physiotherapist.

We have read through your application thoroughly and we are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted and may start on the 24th of July, which is in 2 days.

We'd also like you to note that we have 2 physio's currently, meaning you and Carter — your soon to be colleague, will each take half of the girls for therapy.

On behalf of the Women's Basketball team, we welcome you.

Best regards,
UCONN Women's Basketball management.

Upon reading the email in less than 5 minutes, me and Haylie jumped up in joy, one yelling 'I made it!', the other yelling, 'You did it!'

I brought Haylie into my embrace and hugged her really tight. "God, I'm so proud of you." She praised, still hugging me.

"I-I can't believe it..." I said, earning a light smack from her on my arm.

"This is your chance, and the basketball players here are next tier. And, you get to work with The Paige Bueckers." She squealed.

"Well, the entirely country crushes on her, well some from other countries too." I informed.

Haylie lightly smacked my head. "Look at you! You're a walking model, and you are good at almost everything. Sports, academics, cooking, whatever. Who wouldn't crush on you huh?" She exclaimed.

I shrugged her off. "I dunno. A lot of people maybe? Half the campus don't even know my existence." I stated.

"Well they're gonna know of it once you've manage to pull Paige."

"Nah, you're thinking too far right now Hal's, there's no way she'll ever like someone like me."

She pulled out her phone, and responded to a notification from what I could tell. "Whatever, I'm going back to my room, you sort your stuff out, but I'm happy from you."

"Thanks, I guess." I said, and with that, she left my room to go to hers.
