AVOIDING THE PAST

                            CHAPTER  FIFTEEN

You have a meeting with your sister boss,  James said as he walked into Amara office on a cold Thursday morning .

Cancel it James I don't have time to waste on her Amara said with an icy tone  as she continued typing on her keyboard

This is the fifth time you have cancel on her boss don't you think it time for you to at  least hear her out ? James  asked his boss

No it not yet time , as I don't have the time for her Amara said

Oh well I will let her assistant  know so he can pass the message to her

That good. Now what else have you got for me James ? What is my schedule for today Amara asked him

You have a dinner date with miss Jane today at 7 and also your mother called to know if you have gotten the package she sent

Yes I did the security brought it up with me Amara replied as she stood up to take off her blazer

James please help me to unrap that portrait I wonder what my mother has sent me  this time around and please
If it is a picture of the ocean please don't hang it up I have enough ocean pictures in my office Amara said as she returned back to her seat .

James went over to where the portrait lay and started removing the paper which was used in wrapping it

After he was done he turned the portrait upwards In other to looks at it

Immediately he set his eyes on them he let out a little gaps of surprised and happiness

Amara who was still typing away heard the surprise from James and stopped typing she  looked at him to see what had surprised him

She narrowed her eyebrows as she didn't understand what made James to be so surprised and shock  still

she decided  to ask him to see what up

What is the matter James what did my mother send ? Amara asked him 
James didn't know how to tell his boss that her mother  had sent  pictures of her twins children, so in other not to add her more fuel to the ongoing fire in her

He decided to turn the portrait around for her to see it clearly by herself
Amara took off her eyeglass and stared at the portrait, looking back at her is the portrait of her kids
She took in a very sharp  breath and looked away she still haven't been able to bring herself to look at the kids

From the first picture she saw of them she knows the girl looks exactly like her , but despite the kids taking most of her genes she could still see the traces of the woman who had given birth to them

Boss where should I hang it ?  James asked
Amara cleared her throat and said without emotion, hang anywhere James

when your done please call my mum and tell her I have received the portrait Amara said as she immediately went back to her work

James then went about to hang the portrait where anyone who comes in can see it

Even through she was buried in her work she was still paying attention to what James was doing

When saw that he was done and left her office,

Amara stood up and went over to go look at her kids portrait

As she stood there staring at the beautiful smiling portrait of kids she could help but felt her heart beats fast

She ran her palms against the picture and smiled , she still can't believe she is a mother of the two beautiful children

She is sure her family are  proud of her even if the kids wasn't conceive with the right intention

Amara brought out her phone and took a picture of the kids saving it and installing it as her wallpaper

Anyone who touches her phone will see how proud she is of her kids

Even if their mother Elizabeth might be conniving liar,  that doesn't mean she isn't greatful for the beautiful kids she had given her .

What ?  Jane mum screamed out loud after hearing what her daughter said

You heard me mum Amara has heirs now and they are currently in Nigeria they came in last month, Jane said to her as she took a sip of her wine .

But ? but but how,  Jane mum stammered out in shock

Where you not paying attention to the story I said earlier mum?  Jane asked her mother already getting tired , and  irritated that her mother didn't pay enough attention to her story

I am so sorry Jane,  I didn't mean to upset you I am just surprised by the news

So you mean to tell me that  Sarah went to US to see the girl Amara was sued for,  only to find out  the girl had gotten pregnant for Amara and had given  birth to twins

And they are all here in Nigeria presently Jane mother asked

Yes mother your right on track  Jane said  with a tired and nonchalant defeated tone in her voice.  she then  took another drink from  her wine to calm her mind

I don't know what to say jane but are you sure Amara was the who told you all of this ?

Yes mom , she told me the last time that she invited for me out on  a date

Hmmm this is really unbelievable Jane , but I hope you didn't call of the marriage? Jane mother asked

No mum I didn't,  but I am scared Amara will be the one to call it off since she now have  the heirs her mother badly wants

Don't think that way Jane you have to stay positive, that why I told you to do  what it takes to sleep with Amara , because once you fall pregnant for her  she will have no choice but to marry you .

Jane thoughts a little about what her mum just said, truth be told it is actually a great idea if she falls pregnant for Amara.

Because then no one will be able to stop her from marrying Amara,  and becoming the wife to the prestigious Amara duke chike
But all this wishful thinking is easier said than done , as Amara had always cut short anytime she tried being intimate with her

I actually have a date with her today mum I wil try and work on that , Jane said with fake hope in her voice

Good good you should do that Jane mom said as she  took a drink from her wine .

She still couldn't believe what her daughter told her it seems she will be giving the chike s a call tomorrow .
