One week had passed since Celina's arrival, and the change in Lucy was noticeable. She was smiling more, speaking louder, and even eating better. Their friendship had blossomed into a mutual support system, and they spent most of their free time together.

As they sat in the canteen, Celina looked at Lucy with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey, Luce," she began, "I dare you to eat that brownie." Lucy's gaze followed Celina's finger to the chocolate dessert on her tray.

Her heart raced at the thought, but she felt a newfound determination. If Celina could do it, so could she. "Alright," she said, her voice steady, "But only if you eat yours too." Celina's grin widened. "Deal."

They picked up their forks simultaneously, Lucy's hand trembling slightly. She closed her eyes and took a bite, the rich flavor exploding in her mouth. It wasn't as terrible as she had imagined. When she opened her eyes, she saw Celina watching her, a look of admiration mixed with concern.

They both laughed nervously and continued eating, savoring each morsel. The act of defiance felt liberating, and Lucy knew that she wouldn't have been able to do it without Celina by her side.

After their sweet victory in the canteen, it was time for Lucy's weigh-in. Her appointment was first, and she could feel her heart pounding in her chest as they approached.

As she neared the weighing room, Lucy felt her anxiety spike. She knew the drill by now - step onto the scales, face the wall, and wait for the verdict. It was a necessary part of her recovery, but it never got easier.

Celina stayed close, offering silent support as they entered the room. Lucy took a deep breath and climbed onto the cold metal surface, her heart hammering in her chest. She closed her eyes, trying to block out everything except the sound of her own breathing.

The nurse moved efficiently, recording her weight and measurements without comment. When it was done, Lucy stepped off, her stomach twisting in knots. She couldn't bring herself to ask if she had gained or lost weight; she wasn't sure she wanted to know.

Upon leaving the weighing room, Lucy felt a strange mix of excitement and fear bubbling inside her. She had gained weight, but not enough to warrant a celebration. The nurse's words echoed in her mind: 'ten more pounds, Lucy.'

Ten more pounds until she could leave this place. Ten more pounds until she would have to face the outside world again. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself as she rejoined Celina in the hallway.

Celina noticed the look on Lucy's face immediately. "What happened?" she asked, concern etched into her features. Lucy hesitated for a moment before sharing the news. "The nurse said...if I gain ten more pounds, I could be discharged."

Celina's eyes widened in surprise, then filled with excitement. "That's amazing, Lucy!" she exclaimed, giving her friend a tight hug. Lucy couldn't help but feel a little lighter, the weight of her anxiety lifting slightly under Celina's embrace.

They continued walking together, discussing the possibility of Lucy going home soon. Celina's enthusiasm was contagious, and Lucy found herself imagining life beyond the hospital walls. It was a scary thought, but with Celina by her side, it didn't seem quite so daunting anymore.

she had found a bestfriend.

The days that followed were filled with a renewed sense of determination for both girls. Mealtimes became a joint effort, each encouraging the other to eat every last bite. Lucy found solace in Celina's presence, her laughter and stories helping to distract from the fear that threatened to consume her.
