"And my heart is playing hide and seek. Waiting, count to four. Will you love me like you loved me? And I'll never ask for more." - Mary (Big Thief)

Quinn Fabray was feeling pretty damn happy. After a shit show of a sophomore year, things were finally looking up for the blonde. She may have been off the Cheerios once more, but it was her choice this time and something about it was kind of freeing. The Glee Club had a killer half time performance, the football team with her current boyfriend had won their championship game and a certain ex that was looking kind of attractive lately was awarded M.V.P for bringing said team back together. However, there was one thing missing, and when Quinn's phone began to ring as she walked back to her car, she had hope that it was that one missing thing.

"Oh, hey Jamie," Quinn greeted in confusion as she answered the phone, Violette's sister's contact greeting her instead of the girl Quinn really wanted, "How's the cheer comp?"

"What?" Jamie asked in confusion, "I thought you were at the cheer comp, that's why I'm calling you,"

"Aren't you at the cheer comp watching Violette?" Quinn asked in confusion as she slowly got into her car. Quinn didn't know Jamie Donovan particularly well, outside of being Violette's older sister, but she knew that Violette admired the older girl like no one else. If Jamie wasn't there to watch the cheer comp, Violette was going to be devastated.

"No, I couldn't make it this year, I'm on vacation with my boyfriend," Jamie explained as Quinn started her car, assuming the conversation wouldn't last much longer if neither had an update on Violette's competition.

"Well if you're looking for an update on Violette's comp, you're gonna have to call her instead," Quinn explained, beginning to wonder why Jamie had even called her in the first place instead of her sister.

"That's the problem, something's wrong with Violette,"

"She... what?"

Quinn was pretty sure her heart had stopped beating, that it was rolling under the front seat of her car and painting the floor a vibrant red because it certainly didn't feel like it was still in her chest. Perhaps her lungs had joined in, because the air wasn't going in or out of them anymore so Quinn wasn't entirely sure they were still there.

"They won't tell me much, but they've taken her to the hospital. I'm not even in Ohio and our dad's not answering his phone, I was hoping you were with her," Jamie rambled, extremely stressed for her younger sister and trying to book an emergency flight back home. She loved her father, she really did, but he'd always been a little hopeless when it came to the youngest Donovan sibling. Jamie had never really had to worry about that, Violette was more capable than she seemed, but unlike the rest of her siblings she was still a kid. She needed an adult. She needed someone.

A silence fell between the two girls, only the sound of Jamie's panicked typing coming through on the phone call. Just when Quinn thought things were looking up, it was like the universe was laughing in her face. Quinn wondered if she deserved all these awful things sometimes, but she knew damn well that Violette Donovan did not.

"What hospital?" Quinn asked suddenly, as she put her car in reverse and began speeding out of the McKinley High parking lot.

"Are you driving right now, Quinn?"

"What hospital?" Quinn asked again, "I'm going to get her,"

"It's okay Quinn, if you're not with her I'll call Kai or Ian but we can keep you updated-"

"What hospital did they take Violette to Jamie?" Quinn all but screamed, eyes scanning the road with determination as she pressed her foot harder against the accelerator.
