Chapter 12 - Over in Lover

"BEOMGYU, DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR..."

WTH?? Is there a camera in my room?? I quickly typed back, "Why??" His response came almost immediately: "Do you want more rest? You can take it. For this comeback, you need shoulder-length hair. And no one should spot you, so you won't be in Seoul but somewhere far..."

Okay, so I won't have to face Soobin anytime soon after this breakup. I sighed in relief. Another message popped up: "You need to come for two days. One for the details of the new comeback and another for your ticket..."

What?? I closed my phone, feeling a swirl of emotions. My thoughts drifted back to memories with Soobin, and tears welled up in my eyes. Trying to distract myself, I turned on YouTube and scrolled through some shorts, hoping to escape the pain. But even there, I came across those annoying Soogyu edits. Ughhhh...

The next day, after they had each viewed their new comeback album, the members were preparing to leave. Unfortunately, they all had to take the same exit. As they gathered, a tense silence filled the air; no one wanted to break the ice. Finally, Huening Kai decided to take a chance.

"Soobin hyung, was all your dating stuff with Beomgyu nothing?" he asked, his voice carrying a mix of curiosity and frustration.

Soobin shrugged, looking nonchalant. "Uhh... We never dated. All those things we did were platonic—like friends do..."

The others exchanged annoyed glances at Soobin's response, their disappointment palpable. But Beomgyu looked especially broken, as if the weight of Soobin's words was too much to bear. He appeared so fragile, standing there lost in his thoughts. Huening Kai rolled his eyes and pulled Taehyun by the hand, signaling that they should walk away.

Yeonjun lingered behind, remaining with Beomgyu, who seemed distant. Just then, a girl called out, "Soobin oppa..."

Soobin turned around and saw Yuna approaching him, a bright smile on her face. She took his hand and asked, "How was your day, oppa?"

"Good, Yuna..." Soobin replied, but his mind was elsewhere.

"Wait, aren't you Beomgyu? And you're Yeonjun, right? Soobin always talks about you, Beomgyu..." Yuna continued, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Beomgyu didn't respond; he stood there, devoid of emotion. He wanted to smile at least, but his heart felt heavy, fighting back tears that he knew he shouldn't shed. Meanwhile, Soobin and Yuna quickly fell into their own world, discussing where to go and what to do next. Beomgyu couldn't take it anymore; he felt like he was about to burst into tears. But, no, his angel of his life won't let that happen...

"Yuna??" Huening Kai's voice cut through the air.

Yuna's face paled at the sound. She turned to see Huening Kai standing there, eyes narrowed. "You were Soobin hyung's date??"

"No... Kai-yaaa, let me explain... Please don't say this to—" Yuna began, but Huening Kai interrupted, "I'm going to tell Sunghoon."

"Is she your ex?" Taehyun chimed in, eyebrows raised.

"Eww, Soobin..." Beomgyu teased, though it was laced with bitterness as Soobin's face turned crimson with embarrassment.

"Cheater and cheater relationship..." Yeonjun remarked dryly.

"You guys just started a month ago, and you're already cheating on..." Huening Kai added, shaking his head.

"I AM NOT CHEATING ON HOONIE!" Yuna shouted, her cheeks flushed.

"Then what is this??" Huening Kai pressed.

"Let me explain! Jungkookie sunbae asked me to help him by acting as his girlfriend for an hour. I couldn't deny it... I just did what I was told. Last night's call was also planned. Soobin sunbae looked pitiful, wanting to break up with his boyfriend without telling him why...(stops) I couldn't turn that down. We just met right now; I'm sorry, Soobin hyung..."

Huening Kai shook his head in disbelief. "Soobin, seriously? What could be so big that you chose to do this?"

"Kai-yaaa, please don't tell Sunghoon. We just started, and I can't break his heart. I'll explain it myself after some time..." Yuna pleaded.

"It's okay, Yuna... I'm also sorry—for both this and for breaking your heart back then..." Huening Kai said, a hint of regret in his voice.

"It's okay... We both fell out of our feelings. I'm sorry for blocking you for so long. I'll unblock you. Anyway, I guess I should get going... Bye, Huening-Ning..." she said, waving at him.

"I gotta go..." Soobin muttered, and before anyone could stop him, he walked out as soon as Yuna left.

Beomgyu looked at his members and smirked. "Soobin hyung, I guess it's been too long since you've seen my player side. Let me remind you how I behaved when we first met..." he thought to himself.

YUNA AND KAI MESSAGING

Yuna 143: Hi Kai-yaa... This is Yuna...

Ugliest Kai (renamed to Angel Kai): I already have your number... Never thought this day would come— you unblocking me! Btw, How's it going with you and Sunghoon?

Yuna 143: We just started a month ago... Things are going positively so far. What about you?

Angel Kai: I'm planning to focus on MOA and my career. I think dating you made me realize I'm still immature...

Yuna 143: Kai, I feel immature too for how I reacted to our breakup. But I think you deserve to know something... About Soobin sunbae. I saw a you in him. I don't know why, but it feels like he never really wanted to break up with Beomgyu sunbae. His voice sounded so guilty while discussing it... It felt more like sorrow. I'm also really sorry to Beomgyu sunbae. I shouldn't have messed up their relationship.

Angel Kai: Uh... Yuna, you don't need to feel sorry for Soobin. I appreciate you. If it hadn't been you, he would have found someone else. But because it was you, we could understand that Soobin had other reasons. Anyway, I need to talk to my members. Beomgyu hyung is going outside Seoul alone to prepare for the comeback. Yuna, I gotta go... Bye! Take care!
