Beomgyu POV :
I held Duke by the collar, pinning him to the ground. My heart was racing, adrenaline coursing through my veins as I tried to process the chaos. Suddenly, I heard the unmistakable sound of a door opening. "Beomgyu, what are you doing?? Get off my Duke..." The familiar voice sliced through the tension, making my stomach drop. It was Lee Felix, my first ex-boyfriend—the one who had broken me years ago. He was the reason I was insecure about Soobin and flirted with him back then.
Felix rushed toward us, concern etched on his face as he grabbed Duke and pulled him up. Yeonjun came beside me, a firm hand on my shoulder. He pulled me up and then pushed me aside, quickly assessing the scratch below Duke's eye, a mark freshly made by my ring. I wasn't feeling guilty till the moment but, they made me realize I was the wrong.
"Beomgyu, what the hell? Why did you do this to Duke?" Felix demanded, his voice sharp. "If you had anything to say to me, say it straight to my face..."
"Do you know what he said, even??" I shot back, frustration boiling over. My pulse quickened, the memory of Duke's words still stinging.
Yeonjun's expression was a mix of disappointment and concern as he stood there, taking in the aftermath of my outburst. "Beomgyu, you really messed up his face. Thank god it isn't that serious..." His tone felt like a punch to the gut, each word driving deeper into the raw wound of my guilt. The shame crept in slowly, wrapping around my chest, squeezing tighter with every passing second. Maybe I had overreacted.
"Hyung, he said to me... really ba-d..." My voice wavered and I could feel tears starting to fill up my eyes. It was as if every ounce of defiance had drained from me, replaced by an overwhelming sense of vulnerability. I wanted to explain, to make them see that I hadn't acted without provocation, but the words got caught in my throat.
"But verbal has to be dealt with verbally, not with action... Apologize... I said, Apologize right now..." Yeonjun continued, his voice steady, firm and annoyed in disappointment. I glanced at him, seeing the disappointment etched on his face. It twisted my stomach in knots, making me feel even smaller.
The maknaes stood in the background, their expressions a mix of concern and confusion. Huening looked as if he wanted to step in, to defend me or at least offer some comfort, but Yeonjun was already in control of the situation. I could see the tension in his shoulders, the way he was trying to hold everything together while I felt like I was crumbling apart.
Duke, now standing confidently beside Felix, smirked at me, a flicker of triumph in his eyes. I could almost feel the weight of his words crashing down on me again—a few minutes back-the trashy names, how Soobin dumped me because... me being too much for anyone to handle. The sting of his fingers gripping my face still lingered in my memory, a reminder of my own humiliation. He had tried to spit on me, and in that heated moment, I had pushed him down. My ring had left a mark, but now, in the eyes of everyone, it seemed like he was the victim.
Tears threatened to spill from my eyes as the reality of the situation crashed over me. After everything he had done, he somehow got the victim card in front of everyone—Felix, Yeonjun, the maknaes. My heart felt heavy, the weight of their disappointment pressing down on me like a leaden blanket. How had it come to this? I had wanted to stand up for myself, to show that I wouldn't be pushed around, but instead, I felt more isolated than ever. Tears filled my eyes. I begin, "I'm... sorr...." That's when,
I heard another voice from behind. From the door.
"Beomgyu??"
I turned, disbelief coiling in my gut. Soobin hyung stood there, his expression twisted with a worry. He was too concerned for... Duke. But then, in a blur, Soobin surged forward, his fist crashing into Duke's face with a sickening thud, sending both Duke and Felix sprawling to the ground. A collective gasp rippled through the air, suffocating the room. Yeonjun hyung tried to make him understand, "Soo....".
