Chapter 13 - Give a chance

"Ahh!" It wasn't Beomgyu's voice; it was a female voice—likely an older woman's. Huening Kai quickly withdrew his hands and saw it was Soobin's mom, Mrs. Choi.

"Oh... hello, Hyein-aunty," Taehyun greeted, a bit flustered. "We're sorry... Actually, today is Beomgyu's arrival date, so we were—"

Mrs. Choi interrupted, "Oh, it's okay! I'll join you guys then. By the way, I came to announce something about Soobin's engagement."

"Wait, what??" Huening Kai exclaimed, his eyes wide.

"What about it?" Yeonjun added, clearly confused.

"Yeah, Soobin is going to get engaged to Hwang Jinni," Mrs. Choi announced proudly. "I'll show you her photo. She looks like a fallen angel."

"Probably a thrown angel..." Taehyun muttered under his breath.

"Eww... she looks so pretty," Yeonjun said, with a disgusted admiration.

"Isn't she?" Mrs. Choi beamed. "I've already shared this picture and the news about Soobin's engagement with Beomgyu."

"Mom... but why?" Soobin asked back immediately.

"What do you mean, Soobin? He's your best friend! Shouldn't he see this pretty bride first?" Mrs. Choi replied, her tone matter-of-fact.

Before Soobin could respond, the door swung open, and Jisoo, the popular guard from TXT, stepped in. "Beomgyu?? Are you feeling shy again? I told you, you look better and prettier..."

Beomgyu walked in, and everyone paused to appreciate his visuals. His long hair framed his face beautifully, and his hopeful eyes and striking features captivated everyone. The new long wolf cut suited him perfectly, with white streaks at the ends adding an ethereal touch. He looked like an angel, though not the kind Mrs. Choi was talking about—this was the real deal.

"Wow, yeppeun..." Mrs. Choi murmured, momentarily forgetting her earlier announcement.

"Oh my... This is our angel," Yeonjun joked. "Sorry, but we don't find any average angels pretty when we have Beomgyu around. You glowed up, man!"

"Hyung..." Beomgyu blushed. "Uh... hi, Mrs. Choi. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your message..."

"Oh, it's okay, Beomgyu dear. I guess I should leave now... You guys can enjoy your time together," Mrs. Choi said, glancing around.

"This early?" Taehyun asked, surprised.

"I have some important work... I'll come back another day," Mrs. Choi said, hurrying out.

"What was that?" Yeonjun wondered aloud. "Anyways, Beoms, let's enjoy today! We brought food!"

"Yeah, sure... Soobin hyung, congrats on your engagement..." Beomgyu said, a hint of teasing in his tone.

"Uh... Thanks... Beomgyu, you look stunning," Soobin complimented, his eyes wide.

Beomgyu turned red, caught off guard. "Thanks..."

The next few weeks swept them into a whirlwind of activity. Each day was a blur of energy as the members immersed themselves in the demanding schedule for their Freeze comeback. The recording studio buzzed with the hum of creativity, the air thick with the scent of coffee and the sounds of clicking cameras.

Rehearsals stretched long into the night, filled with laughter and occasional frustration as they perfected their choreography. The echo of their footsteps and synchronized movements filled the practice room, where mirrors reflected their determination. Time flew away... Soo fast

A month later, the day they had all been waiting for had finally arrived. After countless hours of practice, late-night brainstorming sessions, and the pressure of their upcoming album, the members were buzzing with excitement. Their manager had informed them that this album was poised to be a mega hit, and in celebration, PD Bang had organized a lavish pre-release party.

As they stepped into the venue, vibrant lights danced across the room, and the sound of laughter and clinking glasses filled the air. Everyone was mingling, drinks in hand, the atmosphere electric with anticipation. The background music pulsed with the familiar beats of "0x1= LOVESONG," setting a perfect backdrop for the evening.

Suddenly, Yeonjun pulled Beomgyu away from the crowd, leading him to a quieter corner that still retained an air of glamour. They could hear the music from afar, but it felt intimate in their secluded space.

"Beomgyu," Yeonjun began, slightly slurring his words, the effects of the drinks evident in his tone. "What's wrong, hyungie? Let me enjoyyyyyy..."

"Gyu," Yeonjun interrupted, his expression turning serious. "I want to confess something..."

Beomgyu tilted his head, curious despite his tipsiness. "What is it, hyung?"

"I already told you I liked you back during our debut," Yeonjun admitted, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "I dated Jennie for a year until she left me for EXO Kai sunbae. She said she fell out of love... but that was a lie."

"Huh? Hyung, I know you're still hung up on noona," Beomgyu began, but Yeonjun cut him off.

"Listen to me, Gyu-ah. I need you to hear this. She left because we both knew I never really loved her in the first place. I always had my eyes set on you. She knew it, too. Not a second goes by that I don't think about you since the day we met. I get it if you don't feel the same way, but please... give me a chance."

"Hyung..." Beomgyu stammered, his heart racing.

"Please, just think about it before rejecting me," Yeonjun urged, his gaze earnest.

Beomgyu sighed, weighing his options. "I guess I don't have a reason to say no... so we can try dating. But I don't think the outcome will be what you expect."

"Baby, don't focus on the future. Live in the moment and focus on me instead," Yeonjun said, pulling him into a warm embrace.

Just then, Taehyun popped his head around the corner. "Do you guys need a room?"

"Taehyun... what the hell??" Yeonjun shot back, clearly embarrassed.

Beomgyu glanced over at Soobin, who was watching them from a distance. To his surprise, Soobin looked genuinely happy for them, a smile lighting up his face. In that moment, Beomgyu couldn't help but reflect on his own feelings. I was just Soobin hyung's silly crush... I got too serious about us. I know you've moved on, and I want to, too. Soobin comforted me so much after my first breakup, Just to break me harder....
