Chapter 11

Previously:

A few minutes later, I heard the door open. ¨Police! Anyone in here?!¨ The screamed. The police officer had a look of hope in his eyes, that was mixed with sadness.

¨I'm here.¨ I managed to say crawling out of the closet.

Once we got outside almost everyone's faces dropped. 

¨Meliessa, I uhh need to tell you some unfortunate news..¨

Present:

¨Meliessa, There is no easy way to say this. So I'm just going, to be honest about this. Matt has shot your aunt.¨ With that Sargent Max, walked Anna and me outside. But it was still so unbelievable that Matt had escaped and found me, still scared me even though I knew I was safe.

"Max, I will be right back" With that I started walking over to the cop cars that held Matt and from the looks someone else too.

"Melissa," Sargent Max said with warning in his voice.

I ignored him and started walking towards the police officer. Once I was closer I was able to get a closer look at the police cars that held Matt and someone else in there too. It was Aunt Josie. I couldn't believe this. I ran as fast as I could back to Sargent Max to figure out why she was there.

"Why Is Aunt Josie in the police officer's Car?"

¨She helped your stepfather, track you down, for an attempt of murder. That's what we're guessing.¨

"Why? why would she do that?¨ I knew she hated me, but I didn't know she hated me this much.

¨Melissa after you left the hospital yesterday. Micheal contacted us. He told us everything, that Matt threatens to get revenge and kill you.¨ Max said with a sad expression in his voice.

"Give me a minute"

And with that I just ran, I ran to Derik's house.

"Derik, Derik"

I know it was like 3 am. but I saw a light go on and he came and crawled out of his room because it was on the 1st floor.

"Melissa, What's the matter?"

"Just follow me"

We walked just around the block, as he kept looking at me like I was crazy. I mean I kinda was, who else goes and gets people to go for a walk at three in the morning.

¨Melissa, it's three am, tell me why your having me walk around or I'm going home.¨ Derik said before he got restless.

I spun around quickly and looked straight at Derik. While his head went down.

¨My Aunt was shot, Matt tried to kill me. I don't understand Derik, how could someone want to kill somebody else? What did I ever do to them?. ¨

"I'm sorry" is all he kept on murmuring.

"I just need someone who's on my side, who won't try and kill me. Someone who will just listen."

¨I am on your side, Melissa. We may not have talked much in school. But you were always so kind and gentle, yet outspoken.¨ Derik said before kissing me. So yeah I and Derik went to school together.

"Let's go get your sister," Derik said as we walked back to my Aunt house.

Once we arrived, Sargent Max stopped us, and Derik got really stiff which was weird.

"Melissa, can I talk to you?"

"Sure, Derik I will be right back"

"Melissa, Derik is bad news. Don't get caught up in his world. It's not pretty worse than this situation, and please remember that the trial is tomorrow at Eight tomorrow morning. "

"Thanks, But I have known Derik for a long time. I can choose for myself. What I want, is practically an adult." With that, I started walking away.

"Okay but think of my warning" Sargent Max said like he was tired and filled with concern.

Once Mrs.Peterson arrived I was still in Derik's arms, with Anna beside me.

"Mrs.Peterson, can I stay with Derik if it ready by the time Max is supposed to be here?" I asked hoping she would say yes to me.

"Nice try, but that's a no. Boys and girls should not stay with each other, that's just asking for bad news. "She was acting weird

"Fine," I said with disappointed.
