HAPPY NAVRATRI 🪷
CHAPTER 8 OF NEXUS WILL BE PUBLISHED TOMORROW EVENING ON SCROLLSTACK!
Once I came across a line that says - faces can lie, as we often wear a mask hiding our worries, sufferings, and various inner thoughts, making everyone believe we are fine.
But eyes.
They never lie. No matter the number of effort you put in, it always betrays us, most of the time revealing our true self, even in front of strangers, still not everyone can understand the unspoken words mirrored in the eyes as not everyone is capable of taking that courageous initiative to read them.
Kyuki dekh sab sakte hai, samajhna har kisike bas ka nahi hai.
(Because anyone can see, but understanding is not within everyone's reach.)
My mind refused to stay at peace after coming across Avyukta’s brother. It seemed like he had something to tell yet he chose to confine his words within himself.
But Avyukta’s words disclosing him created a web of thoughts that tangled more with each passing thought. I felt sorry for his wife and his kids for being with someone involved in gambling, alcohol addiction, and other unethical habits that don’t align with societal norms.
I stared at the ceiling blankly as my hand reached to get my phone to find the whereabouts of my fiance as he hadn’t shown up after leaving hurriedly in the middle of the sangeet.
I unlocked my phone and dialed his number but he didn’t answer. After calling him back to back five times, I received his message.
Busy with family. See you tomorrow.
I inhaled a deep relaxing breath after knowing he was with his family. He might be attending his relatives visited for our wedding. Covering myself in a blanket, I turned off the light and within no time the darkness enveloped me.
The entire day was nothing but a human hurricane all around the Kundra mansion but my mind stayed distracted after receiving no sign of text or call from Avyukta.
“Pankti beta, get ready” I turned over my shoulder watching Maa placing the bridal lehenga on the bed.
I watched her approach in my direction as I raised from the chair, my eyes looking at the ornaments resting on the table attached to the dressing mirror.
Her hands tenderly cupped my face while I noticed tears finding home in her eyes.
“Maa,” I said, placing my hands above her.
“Maine sab arrange kar diya hai,” I said, deciding to reveal my plans for them.
(I've arranged everything)
“Kya arrange kar diya hai?” She asked, a hint of confusion wandering in her eyes.
(What have you arranged?)
