Was I high on weeds to blindly agree to her words? Even though I knew that our presence here was like putting the cat among the pigeons, I ensured this time I wouldn't give that man a chance to execute his motives successfully.

Naren Raghuvanshi wasn't what he portrayed himself to be in the eyes of the world. It was all a shell game to carry out exploitative motives under the guise of welfare schemes.

“Maahir,” I moved my gaze to the corner of the room. “What's your next plan?” Samarth asked, slamming the laptop lid to close.

With no words to reply, my fingers picked a pencil from the pen stand. “Naren Raghuvanshi is nothing without support.” I pointed at the bunch of pens and pencils gathered in the pen stand. “This single pencil represents him,” I said, holding it by both ends. The next moment, I snapped into two pieces. “That's what I'm planning to do. If he can stoop low, let's not forget, I'm his son. I got his dirty acts in me too.”

“Are we attacking the base?” He raised his eyebrow as he walked to reach the desk and settled on the chair across from me.

“No,” I replied, placing the broken pieces of pencil back in the stand. I rose from the chair and strolled to reach the whiteboard hanging on the wall. Picking up a marker, I started to draw a flowchart. In between, I noticed his eyes suspiciously looking at the same.

With a quick turn, I faced him and pointed at the circle marked with the main target along with the name of the place written as Aravalli. “This is the main branch of Raghuvanshi Industries. Located in the small town of the Bundi district. The Government of Rajasthan is headed by a majority party that also heads the Union Government. If you go through the last seven assembly election results, the same party has been winning with a massive share of votes. And they’ve never faced a coalition situation of coalition. Isn’t that suspicious?”

“Maahir, it could be because of welfare programs started by them?” Samarth intervened.

“Maybe. We are a democratic country with universal suffrage granting us the right to vote.” I turned to erase the diagram with the duster and drew a question mark, “But are they really voting?”

“Are they hiring their men to disguise themselves as voters? So they can vote and win the same.” Samarth connected the dots. I nodded once, walking to return to my seat.

“How do you know?” he asked, removing the lid of the glass.

“Naren’s father, Suraj Raghuvanshi was a politician too. And my Nanu Viraj Arora was a spectacular businessman of his time. I don’t need to remind you that Mom’s diary indirectly hinted at a deal between them, thirty-one years ago after Lok Seva Party’s first win.”
