Emotions - I often regarded them as wide as the sky

Emotions - I often regarded them as wide as the sky. The sky offers various shades from sunny blue sky to dark gloomy days, from vibrant dawn offering hope of the new day to the haunting silent dusky end with a promise of the beginning to the new tomorrow, just like that, emotions vividly vary from charming happiness to haunting sorrow and the list goes on.

The one-word revelation from the man I married without being aware of his presence under the guise of my late fiancé certainly made me question if he even had emotions. Avyukta often mentioned how he wanted to bind his family together despite being his cousin. I used to believe they were brothers, but the mention of his late mother before I left for Kundra's house cleared out my doubts about them being cousins. But they weren’t alike.

Avyukta was bestowed with generosity, love, and compassion while this man seemed devoid of feeling - like a robot.

I trembled hearing him disclosing the reason. My mother and best friend held me before I could collapse. Suicide? I couldn’t believe it. I would never want to. He had never shown a sign of despair that could make him take this step, especially on our sangeet night.

I wished I had stopped him when I saw him last time on stage.I wished I had followed him before he reached the place to commit the sense.I wished I had rebelled to make him stay by my side instead of letting him go.I wished I had paused the moment if I knew that he was living the last moments of his life.

“Babygirl,” I looked up through my teary eyes at my best friend, offering me a glass of water.

“I’m sorry,” she placed the side in front of me and wrapped me in her embrace. “If I ever knew what my sold hesitation as soon as I started speaking mouth was about to spit, I would have stopped myself.” Her thumb wiped off my tears as her fingers splashed on my face.

My lips trembled. My hands turned cold. My chest burned. My legs lost their control. I was messed up.  My worst fear of my life turned true on my wedding day.

“Vidisha, leave me alone,” My voice cracked as I managed to say.

“But Pankti-”

“I said, just get out of the room! I can’t deal with anyone at this point.” I never wanted to yell at her but that was the only way to make her leave the four walls of the room.

I brought my knees closer, hugging them as I sobbed. My gaze fell on the red bangles. The auspicious symbol for a bride to declare she was married. But for me, they felt like shackles.
