(V7) Chapter 10: For the Future

FEW HOURS BEFORE THE ROOFTOP INCIDENT

"SO, I wouldn't be at the rooftop then..."

I was walking home after class. I wasn't particularly mad, if anything I was glad. I'd wish to contribute a bit to give Ryuuen a nice punch for bullying Karuizawa but other than that, I was okay with it.

I didn't have much to do now, besides maybe planning for the Mixed Training Camp after the winter break. I anticipate Nagumo would do some tactic on me the same way he did to Ayanokouji. Since Manabu has a high...  thinks highly of me.

"I guess I'll continue my gambling matches."

I've been gambling since after the Zodiac Exam in order to earn a lot of private points. I've actually gotten more heard of because of gambling. So now, I'm well known for gambling and for being a 'creep'. 

I mostly earn the private points through 'Texas Hold 'Em' Poker or rarely Mahjong. I've won most of the matches so far since I'm pretty decent in them. So far, I've earned quite a huge number of points.

'I'll play a couple matches later today but I will go nap once I reach my dorm and take a shower. Only then will I play... Hopefully I won't oversleep by then.'

I shook at bit due to the cold and decided to walk faster. Then and there, I felt an uneasy feeling. 

Someone is definitely following me. I can hear their footsteps despite the wind blowing by my ears. And those footsteps... I'm not sure how but I'm able to distinct which footsteps they are. They're very similar to that time where I was getting something from the vending machine.

"Odd..."

Could it be one of Sakayanagi's stalkers? Honestly, it's likely, considering Yamamura was stalking me before. The only ones I could think of would be Hashimoto and Kamuro... No, it has to be Kamuro. Sakayanagi has taken a keen interest in me since I've entered this school, and it's only intensified since.

'If she wants information from me, it's best I stop talking to myself out loud when I'm outside-'

I swiftly turned around and saw a familiar face from Class A.

"You sure are quick," said the girl.

"My senses aren't bad, I suppose."

I stopped as Kamuro continued walking towards me.

"I wanted to talk to you, but I couldn't find a good opportunity, so I'll talk now," said Kamuro.

I waved at her to continue.

"For some time now, Sakayanagi has been very interested in challenging people. A week ago, she told me that she was planning to go after you, along with some of your classmates. I believe she'll also target your leader, Horikita."

Now, this was a very interesting statement she made. It is indeed true she'd be targeting my class but it's only the winter break.

"She's going after my class, eh? I would've expected it'd be Class B first," I replied.

"That'd make sense, yeah, but it's Sakayanagi and her weird logic. She thinks that your class is more of a threat due to the sudden aggressiveness and rise of your class. She'd definitely go after Class B and then C."

Hm... Something's bugging me. 

"Yo, so... why tell me all this? And not Horikita? No... why tell anyone at all?" I asked.

If Kamuro wanted to keep her position as a Class A student. She wouldn't tell someone from a class that's deemed as an enemy. It would only place the opposing class in an advantage at least in information.

"If I'm going to be honest with you, I'm not a fan of Sakayanagi, even though I follow her orders. If anything, I'll let you in a secret."

It was probably how she got turned into Sakayanagi's minion.

"I'm part of the Katsuragi Faction."

Oh that's sweet...

"What!?"

"I bet you're surprised huh?"

Kamuro is not part of the Katsuragi Faction though... she's either bluffing or something might've happened behind the scenes. And if she is bluffing, she likely has a script in mind.

"How did this happen?" I asked her.

She smirked it bit, which I found odd, before she started speaking.

"Heh... I never had a chance to really talk about it. I've always been a Katsuragi supporter, I'm pretty conservative myself. Katsuragi takes things defensively, while Sakayanagi is way too aggressive. Unlike Katsuragi, she doesn't care about her classmates at all, all she cares about is her battling 'challenging' people so she wouldn't be bored and her class staying as Class A."

"What are you exactly suggesting here?" I asked.

"She must be stopped, and I want her to resign as Class A's leader. If she continues with her adventure of trying challenge capable people, then she'd likely not only ruin their class but also affect my class. What if she does something stupid along with sacrificing one of my classmates for the sake of a battle with somebody?"

...

"Look. From what I've heard from Sakayanagi, you seem like a very capable person. More capable than Horikita and Hirata. No offense, I do want my class to stay as Class A. I'd want your class to not be in Class A. That means Sakayanagi taking action to ensure that is fine. However, what I don't like is to the point where your class basically has no chance of possibly becoming Class A. I do think everyone deserves an equal chance, so if she goes after your class... your class may very well not recover."

This was interesting to say the least. Kamuro is trying to make me defeat Sakayanagi so not only Katsuragi can be leader again, but for her 'reckless actions' to be stopped. Of course, along with Sakayanagi not gaining 'power' over our grade. 

"In other words, you want me to defeat her?" I asked.

"I'm not saying that. Whether you choose to or not is up to you. I'm just saying if no action's going to be taken, your class is going to crumble."

"This is a competitive school. If you're still in Class A, that's all that matters," I responded clearly. "And besides, if you're framed as Sakayanagi's supporter but you're actually with Katsuragi, I think warning me publicly is pretty risky. Sakayanagi wouldn't like this you know, what if some follower of yours were to be stalking you how you stalked me?"

School just only ended.

Kamuro's expression hardened. "I'll take my chances. Just don't say I didn't warn you."

"Fair enough."

With that, I turned and resumed walking. I had no interest in prolonging the conversation.

I already had a feeling of what this meeting was about anyway.

The threat currently is not directly her, but the idea of her. I won't make the first move.
