The bell for lunch had just rang, and Eddie gathered up all his supplies, putting his books and binders in his light blue backpack.
He was currently in Earth Science, learning about tectonic plates or something like that.As him and the rest of the kids filed out of the classroom, each pushing and shoving each other like hyenas fighting for the last scraps of food, Eddie made his way down to the lunchroom in the crowded hallway. Even though he was a junior, he still felt extremely small against the seniors and even against some of the freshmen, some who which had their schedules out and looking frightened by the huge highschool.
Finally Eddie made it to his destination of the lunchroom and pushed open the huge wooden doors and was immediately met by the warm scent of cafeteria food.
Eddie looked around for his friends who also had lunch with him; Richie, Beverly, and Stanley.
Eventually his eyes landed on the ginger curls of Beverly Marsh's hair and he made his way toward her."Hey, Beverly!" He shouted out, catching her attention, but not paying full attention to his other surroundings which caused him to bump into a shorter girl with light brown hair that made its way to her hips.
Eddie quickly casted his attention to her and realized that he had made her spill milk - chocolate milk - over her light purple blouse, which now had a dark brown stain on it."Oh shi-shoot, I'm so sorry!" Eddie corrected his language, apologizing.
He noticed the tears welling up in the younger girls eyes and Eddie felt even more ashamed of himself.
Eddie looked around, who noticed nearly the whole cafeteria had their full attention on him and the girl."Uh..." And with that, Eddie left the girl alone to fend for herself and he made his way back towards Beverly, still feeling the glares people were giving him.
Wow, great first day of school, Ed's. Eddie thought to himself.
Beverly gave him a sympathetic look once he had made his way to her. He set his bag down beside his chair and sat down and put his face in his hands.
"You alright there, Eddie?" Beverly asked.
"Yeah, Bev. A. O. Kay." Eddie said sharply and sarcastically, wishing the ground would swallow him whole then and there.
Beverly cleared her throat awkwardly, then spoke, "Hey, here Richie and Stan come."
Eddie looked over to his right and saw the two boys walking with their plate of food towards Eddie and Bev.
Once Richie saw the stressed look on Eddie's face, Richie immediately asked him what was wrong."You alright there, Spaghetti? Looks like you could use a couple of chucks."
Eddie knew Richie was just trying to help and Eddie was grateful for that, but all that came of his mouth was, "beep fucking beep, Richie."
Richie winced.
"Sorry, I- What happened?" Richie tried again to comfort the small boy.
"Nothing." Eddie muttered, putting his head into his arms and closing his eyes, wanting to forget the embarrassing scene he had just caused for not just himself, but the girl too.
