Rae'lynn's POV
"So New York, it's been real and I love you but ya girl is moving over to the West Coast for bigger things. I'll still be making all of my videos and communicating with you guys, just in a different city. With that said, this is Rae'lynn signing off. See you in Los Angeles." I ended my video and blew a kiss.
I turned off my camera and plugged it into my computer. I watched it, edited it and uploaded it. I sighed and got up from my desk. I looked around at my now empty condo except for the few boxes of things I'm taking with me and my bed. I'm having movers drive my boxes across the country and my bed will stay here because I've already sold this place. I already cleaned the place and left all the amenities. As for my car, my baby, I already turned her back into the dealership and I have enough credit to get one out in L.A.
It's currently 1:00 in the afternoon. My plane doesn't leave until 4:00. While I'm sitting here, I might as well introduce myself.
My name is Rae'lynn Marie Thomas. But I like to go by just Rae. I'm 23 years old and just recently graduated college. I got my Masters in Business and Communications and I'm opening my store in Los Angeles. I have my own line of cosmetics and I only sold them on my online store but I decided to expand to a storefront. Plus, I have my own YouTube channel where I make beauty videos which I truly love and I get paid from it. It's a win-win.
Anyway, I was born in Philadelphia but I moved to New York for college. My mom and dad are married and still stay in Philly. I have an older brother, Rashawn, who is 26 and lives in San Francisco where his job relocated him. My parents don't like that their kids are going to be so far away but they accept that we are adults and can be wherever we want. I'm definitely a Daddy's Girl. Don't get me wrong, I love my mother to death, but my father taught me so many valuable things and he always spoiled me, despite my mother's opinion.
It's kind of bittersweet leaving New York. I've built my own little cozy home here, my success started here and I like it here. But I have to keep moving forward.
I snapped out of my thoughts by my phone ringing. I looked at the screen and pressed the 'answer' button.
"Hello?" I greeted.
"Hi, Ms. Thomas. Your driver is here to escort you to the airport and I sent the movers up to take your boxes to the moving truck." The front desk lady, Pam, spoke.
"Thank you, Pam."
"You are very welcome." I ended the call.
I carried all of the boxes to the front door. Just as I was about to get my luggage, there were knocks on my door. I turned around and opened it to reveal the movers.
"Hi! Okay, all the boxes are right here." I pointed to them.
"Alright and the lady downstairs sent a dolly for your luggage." One of the men said.
"Thanks." I smiled.
I grabbed the dolly and put it in the living room. While they took all the boxes down, I loaded up my bags. I only had about seven. The four big ones had all my clothes, the two carry-ons had all of my makeup and the book bag had all of my toiletries and other stuff.
We got all of the stuff downstairs, packed into the truck and car and I headed off to the airport while the movers started their cross country journey.
Once we reached the airport, the driver helped me get my bags on a cart and left. I went through security, got my bags checked and turned in my ticket. I went to the inside Starbucks and ordered a Mocha Cookie Crumble and a piece of cake. Then, I went to the inside convenience store and grabbed a bunch of snacks for the plane ride. Ya girl be hungry. After about 45 minutes of waiting, my flight was finally called.
"Flight 405 to Los Angeles, California. Now boarding!" The lady said over the intercom.
I got up, grabbed my bags and boarded the plane.
Here's to a new start.
