Rae'lynn

I was in my office at work. I rarely come in here, only when I have to and today was one of those days. One of my staff members had filed a paper wrong which made all of them mess up. And guess who had to fix it?

As I was typing, my phone started buzzing. I glanced over at the screen and instantly picked it up, smiling.

"Mommy!" I greeted. Don't judge me.

"Hey baby, how are you?" I missed her voice so much. Ever since I've moved to LA, I haven't gotten the chance to talk to her as much as I'd like to.

"Pretty good actually. I'm just doing some work right now." I shrugged as if she could see me.

"Oh do you want me to call you back?"

"No, no. I can take a break." I smiled and put my feet up.

She laughed. "So what are you doing this weekend?"

I thought about it. "Nothing, that I know of. Why?"

"Well your father and I wanted you and your brother to fly home and visit." She said with excitement in her voice.

"I would love to but it's a little last minute, ma."

"I know, I know but we haven't all been together in a while and this is one of your brother's only free weekends. Plus, you can bring that new boyfriend of yours." I could tell she was smirking.

My mom and I have a pretty open relationship. I tell her a lot and of course she knew about Chris and I. She just didn't know any specifics just that I was dating him. Our relationship was private. People knew that we were together but we didn't publicize it and tried to stay out of the media.

I laughed. "Okay mom, I'll book the tickets."

"Yay! Okay, see you soon baby. Love you."

"Love you too." I ended the call.

I put my feet down and turned back to my computer. As promised, I booked my ticket. Air fare is expensive, man. I mean, I can afford it but still. Just know if I fly out to see you, I got major love for you.

I continued my work and tried to finish quickly. This girl really messed this stuff up. I didn't fire her though, I have a heart and everybody makes mistakes.

I was almost done when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I shouted while still typing.

It opened and to looked up to see one of the cashiers, Ashley.

"Rae, these flowers came for you." She set them down.

"Thank you." I smiled and she left.

I admired the flowers, purple tulips. I searched for a card and finally found it, embedded in a pedal. I read it aloud.

"Your Secret Admirer." I mumbled to my self. Confusion was probably evident on my face. Who would've sent me flowers? I thought to myself. It can't be .. never mind. It was probably just Chris being goofy as usual.

Shaking the thoughts out of my mind, I went back to work.

Soon enough, I was finished. I could not get out of there fast enough. I've been there since eleven this morning. It is now four in the afternoon.

Chris had made dinner reservations for six o'clock so I headed home to change.

I got there in about fifteen minutes. I went inside and climbed the stairs. I got straight into the shower and turned the water very hot. I don't know how people take cold showers.
