Rae'lynn
I stood in the closet, by myself, trying to find an outfit for today. I didn't want to go to this therapy session that Chris is forcing on me but I admit it might feel nice to talk to someone without bias and ironically, Chris isn't even here. It's Wednesday and the last time he was home was yesterday morning and when I would text him, I got bland, short answers. I simply don't have the time, so I won't worry about it, I guess. I won't let my trust be tested because it would be a waste of time, my baby ain't dumb.
I put on distressed jeans, a bleached band tee and my pair of white forces; I wasn't trying to impress anybody. I let my hair hang straight down, and just touched up my eyebrows a bit.
It was currently 11:30 and my appointment was at 12:30, I was gonna pick up something to eat on the way cause it was about a 45 minute drive from here according to Google Maps. Before I walked out the door, I went to see my babies and feed them. As soon as I opened the door, Nike, Princess and DD jumped all over me. So sweet. I played with them for a few minutes and left plenty of food and water for them while I was gone.
I drove up to McDonald's and picked up a lemonade and sausage sandwich to satisfy me through this drive.
"Everyone falllllls in loveeeeee sometimes." I sang loudly as I approached the address on my phone. The building stood about 7 floors tall, and was beautifully decorated in white painted brick and glass.
I stepped off of the elevator once it reached the 5th floor and trailed along the hallway until I reached the door that read, Dr. Keyshia Combs.
I knocked and a soft voice told me to come in, I opened the door and was greeted by a woman who stood about 5'4, golden, slightly aged skin and jet black hair tied into a bun.
"You must be Rae'lynn, it's very nice to meet you."
"Likewise." I shook her hand.
"Please take a seat, I'm sorry, I was scheduled back to back today, let me create a file for you." She turned away from her desk to a stack of drawers.
"Sure." I tucked my head into my phone. I can't believe Chris ain't here with me, this was his idiotic idea. There's no real reason for me to have a therapist, I don't want this.
"Okay, let's get started." Dr. Combs came and sat on the chair across from me, smiling.
I put my phone in my bag and looked at her.
"You don't want to be here, I presume."
"And how did you guess that?" I crossed my legs and sat back.
"Honey, I've been doing this for 35 years, I know when someone is guarded. I'm just here to listen to you and help you in anyway I can."
"Honestly, doctor, I don't need to be here. I have friends, they listen to me and give wonderful advice."
"I understand, but I don't know you so I'm going to give it to you straight, sometimes friends just tell us what sounds good or what we want to hear. I'm not here to appease you, I'm here to aid you. Now, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself." She stared at me with her hand ready to write on her clipboard.
