Rae'lynn POV

Chris and I have now been together for three months. It's easily been the best time of my life, I just feel great, you know? Today, I'm meeting all of his family including his mom. To say I was nervous was an understatement, huge understatement. They were in town for his niece Dayci's birthday party and he really wanted me there. Of course I wasn't going to deny but what if they don't like me? What if his mother doesn't think I'm good enough for her son? I wouldn't want Chris to choose between me and his family but I love him too much to let him go. Ugh. This is too much.

I slid from Chris' embrace, carefully so I wouldn't wake him up. He spent the night last night. I went downstairs and made a grilled cheese. It was 5 in the morning but I couldn't sleep and I always ate when I was nervous. Not a good habit but what can you do? I needed someone to vent to and the first person who came to mind was Andrea. I went outside on the back patio so I wasn't too loud.

I called her twice, texted her and FaceTimed her. I called her one last time and, finally, she answered the phone.

"Rae'lynn Marie Thomas, what the hell are you doing calling me at 5:10 in the morning?!" She slightly yelled at me.

"Okay, I'm sorry but I really need someone to talk to."

"You couldn't have wait until 4 hours from now?"

"No, it can't wait and I can't sleep. Drea, please." I pouted as if she could see me.

I heard some shuffling and then she sighed. "Alright, lay it on me."

"Well, Chris wants me to meet his family today and I'm freaking out ..." I went on to tell her all of my worries and explained why I'm stressing.

"Okay, first, calm down. You are overthinking this too much." I listened while munching on my sandwich. She continued. "Second, we've all met Chris' mom and she's possibly one of the sweetest ladies on the planet. She wants what's best for Chris and trusts his judgment. Third, as for the rest of his family, I'm sure they are just as nice as her and you're wonderful so you have nothing to worry about."

I processed everything that she said. "You're right, I feel a little better."

"A little? You better feel all the way better cause you woke me up for this." She yawned.

I laughed. "Sorry, go back to sleep. Thank you."

"Mhm." She mumbled and hung up.

I let out a tiny sigh and went back into the house. Andrea always knows how to make me feel better, but I just can't shake some of this feeling off. Do all people go through this? Ugh.

Anyway, I cleaned up the little mess I made in the kitchen. I went back upstairs and Chris wasn't in the bed. The bathroom light was on so I just laid back down and stared at the ceiling. A minute later, the door opened and he flopped back on the king size bed.

"Sorry, if I woke you." I spoke softly.

"Yeah, I done turned over and you wasn't there. What's wrong?" He yawned.

"Uh, I just went to make a grilled cheese." I but my lip.

"I believe you cause you greedy but I know something else is wrong."

"Can we just talk in the morning?"

He nodded and mumbled some words I didn't hear. We snuggled up to each other and fell back asleep.

Chris POV

I woke up for the second time that day. It was now 11:30 and I decided to just get up. Rae was still knocked out. I shook my head at how wild she sleeps. Speaking of, she's been acting weird ever since two days ago. I know it had something to do with meeting my family but she never brought it up. I'll get her to talk later.
