Riya walked towards Dr. Sharma's cabin, her heart racing a little. She had been working tirelessly for the past two months, juggling the demanding role of a neurologist while still keeping her promise to care for her brother. Today, she felt the weight of exhaustion pulling her down, and she knew she needed a break.
As she knocked gently on the door, Dr. Sharma called out, "Come in!"
Riya entered the room, a bit hesitant. Dr. Sharma looked up from his desk, his expression friendly and welcoming. "Riya! What can I do for you?"
"Dr. Sharma," she began, trying to steady her voice. "I wanted to talk to you about taking a short leave. I have some personal matters to attend to, and I feel I could use a little time to recharge."
Dr. Sharma raised an eyebrow, concern etching his features. "Of course, I understand how intense things have been for you lately. But are you sure you want to take a break now, with the upcoming surgeries and the ongoing cases?"
Riya nodded earnestly. "I really need this, just a few days. I promise I'll come back recharged and ready to work."
He leaned back in his chair, considering her request. "All right, Riya. If you feel this is what you need, I can approve your leave. Just make sure to take care of yourself. We need your expertise, especially with the patients who rely on you."
"Thank you so much, Dr. Sharma," Riya replied, relief washing over her. "I really appreciate it."
As she turned to leave, Dr. Sharma added, "And don't forget to let me know if you need anything while you're away."
Riya smiled, grateful for his understanding. "I will. Thank you again!"
As Riya walked out of Dr. Sharma's cabin, her mind felt a little lighter. She had finally taken the step to prioritize her own well-being, even if just for a few days. Just as she exited the office, her phone buzzed in her pocket, drawing her attention. She pulled it out to see a notification from Sanjay.
Group Chat Notification: "The Fab Four"
Riya opened the message, curious. The group chat included her, Sanjay, Roy, and Sneha. She could already guess what this was about.
Sanjay: Hey everyone! Just created this group so we can all keep in touch. 🌟
Sneha: Yay! Finally, we're a squad! 💃 What's the plan?
Roy: What do you mean by "squad"? I'm too busy for games. 🙄
Sanjay: Come on, Roy! Life's not all work! We need to plan something fun.
Riya couldn't help but smile at the banter. It felt good to see the playful interactions, especially after her hectic days in the hospital.
Riya: I agree with Sneha! We should definitely plan something. I could use a little fun after all the hard work!
Sneha: Yes! How about a dinner? We can catch up and just enjoy ourselves.
Roy: Fine, but I'm only in if there's good food. 😒
Sanjay: You know there will be! I know this great place we can go to. How about tomorrow night?
Riya felt a spark of excitement. It had been a while since they all hung out together outside of work.
Riya: Tomorrow sounds perfect!
Sneha: Awesome! Can't wait!
Roy: Sure, whatever. Just don't keep me waiting.
