I have been hanging out with a wonderful guy. We met 3 months ago at a gig we were both attending. It was a meet cute, sort of. He accidentally drank my beer. He apologised profusely and bought me another one. After that, I would poke fun that he needed glasses to make sure he didn't drink my beer again.
He took it all in good fun, and we exchanged numbers before we departed from the gig.The next day, I was at work at the store. I heard my text notification go off. I opened my messages, and it was him. He asked me if I wanted to go for coffee with him. I agreed, and we met up at a coffee shop in the mall.
As we spent more time together, we found that we had a lot in common. Both of us had tattoos and played an instrument, although mine is a saxophone. He plays drums. As our friendship blossomed, we took the steps of hanging out at each other's places. He had a house, and I lived in an apartment building with 3 storeys. I lived on the 3rd floor. I also have a cat called Dorrie. She is jet black with the mood to match. She didn't like people. Just me, and I think that is only because I feed her and clean her litter tray out.
When I invited him to my apartment for the first time, I cooked. I don't think he expected me to cook. He said he had brought takeout menus when he arrived. It was then that he sniffed the air and realised that dinner was cooking.
We ate, drank some beer, and hung out. It was a good evening. He looked at me and made me feel like he wanted to be more than friends. I had to admit that the more time I spent with him, the more I was falling for him.
The time after that, I went to his place for the first time. His house was beautiful. It was all one storey and had a swimming pool.
"Your house is beautiful. " I declared.
"Thank you." He replied, smiling. His hand lightly brushed against my arm. It made the hairs on my arm rise.
" I should've brought my swimming things." I laughed. He chuckled, too. We went and sat outside. It was a warm evening, and the sun was just setting. The sky was beautiful. Golden and orange with flecks of red in it. I sighed as I looked up at it.
"Why the big sigh?" He asks, rubbing my arm. I shrugged.
"Well, look at it. Look how beautiful nature can be."
"I know." He said. I looked at him, and he was just staring at me. "It is beautiful."
"Josh......." I said just above a whisper.
"Ally." He said. My body turned to him, and I looked into his eyes. I swallowed because I wasn't exactly sure what would happen. I was a mixture of nerves, excitement, and hopefulness. Josh carried on. "You and me, us spending time together, the past few months. Ally, I am falling in love with you." I closed my eyes and exhaled. I wanted to say my next words carefully. I had been wanting this for quite some time, so I didn't want to fuck anything up.
"Josh, I would be lying if I was to say anything different to you, but I have been feeling the same way for quite some time now."
Joshs eyes flicked up to meet mine, with a smile too.
"For real?" He asked.
"Yea Josh. I have so much fun with you. We both are so similar with our humour, too. You care so much about what happens in my life and about me in general. I have found lately that my mind wanders to you all the time when I think about happiness." Josh shuffled closer to me and cupped my face in his hands. He looked into my eyes and said my name before closing the distance between us. Josh kissed me lightly and tenderly. I opened my eyes and cupped his cheek, and rubbed it with my thumb. The 2nd kiss I initiated. I leant forward and kissed him a little more firmly.
"Oh, wow." Josh said and held me in his arms. I wanted to kiss Josh some more. Josh was about to say something to me when I said,
"Josh, don't talk. Just kiss me." We made out under the sky.
