Olivia went into the recording booth to lay down the vocals for one of her new songs.
"Hate to give the satisfaction,......"
The engineers were giving Olivia a thumbs up as she finished the song. She hung the headphones up and left the booth. She made her way to the sound engineers so that she could hear the playback.
"That sounds really good." Olivia said, nodding at the way the song sounded.
Olivia left the studio and went out to her car. It was dark now, and the parking lot was deserted apart from their cars.
She drove home. On the way home, there is a forest that has to be passed. Olivia didn't mind it in daylight, but on a night, it creeped her out. She couldn't explain how it does. As Olivia put some music on there was somebody stood in the middle of the road she slammed on the breaks. Olivia got out of the car.
"Hey, are you ok?" She asked the guy. He just stood there. She waved a hand in his face.
"Hello?" She said. Suddenly, the guy snapped to attention.
"Oh, I am sorry. I am not sure how I even got here. I am lost, I think." Olivia looked around and couldn't see anybody else.
"Ok, tell me your address, and I will take you home." She offered.
The guy gave his address to Olivia.
"I am Olivia, by the way."
"Hi, my name is Mark." They both got into the car, and Olivia started to drive towards Mark's neighbourhood. There was light chit chat in the car. Mark went very quiet again and seemed to stare off.
Olivia stopped outside Mark's apartment building.
"Thank you, Olivia." He said before getting out of the car. Olivia proceeded to drive back home. The following day, Olivia turned the news on and saw a picture of Mark.
"Mark Monroe disappeared 3 months ago from his apartment in downtown LA. His family is still looking for him and will be grateful for any news."
Olivia reached for her phone and called the number on the screen. It took quite a while to get connected as there were a lot of people in the queue. Eventually, she got through and spoke to someone. Olivia told them what happened the previous evening. The operator said that she would pass Olivias' details on to the investigating officer. Olivia hung up and got ready to drive back to the studio.
As she entered the parking lot, the guys from the studio stood outside. Olivias brow furrowed a little bit because she was wondering why they were outside.
"Hey guys, you all OK?" Olivia asked as she walked over.
"Yea." Steve, one of the engineers said. "We heard noises in the back room. We thought it might be bats or something, but the noises were really loud." Olivia raised an eyebrow.
"Are you waiting for the police or something?"
Steve nodded. Olivia opened the door into the studio and went in.
"Hello?" She called out. There was a noise from the back room where spare equipment was kept. Olivia walked towards the room and opened the door.
"Hello?" She called out again. There was a rustling sound and equipment falling over. Olivia fumbled for the light switch.
"Who is in here?" Olivia was getting frustrated more than anything else. She eventually found the light switch and flipped it on. It took Olivia a few seconds to focus and get her eyes adjusted to the light.
Olivia gasped and put her hand over her mouth when she saw a figure crouched over in a corner of the room.
"Hello? A-are you ok?" She asked. The figure looked up, but Olivia still couldn't see their face.
"Olivia?" The figure said.
"Yea?" Olivia furrowed her brow in confusion. How did this person know her name? The figure stood up. "Mark?"
"Yes, it's me, Olivia." Mark replied.
"Why are you here?" Olivia was puzzled
"I needed somewhere to hide."
"Hide? Why? I thought you were safe when I dropped you home last night."
"It's not my safety that I am concerned about. It's the general public." Mark said. Now Olivia was really confused. Mark stepped forward a little more into the light, slightly. Olivia gasped when she saw Mark's appearance.
He was a lot more muscular, and he had longer fingernails. Mark was tall in stature. His eyes seemed to be a mixture of blue and red. The biggest change was Mark's mouth. He had fangs, like a vampire. It was then that Olivia also noticed that Mark had 2 fang indentations on his neck.
"I just need to hide until it's dark, and then I can get away from here and away from people." Mark explained. Olivia nodded and closed the door. She locked it with the key and kept hold of it.
Olivia went outside and told the sound engineers that the noise was a bird that had gotten trapped. She said that she had opened the window and let it out.
